I got my Mr. Funnel through West Marine - Make Boating Better with New Boating Gear from West Marine. I purchased the 5 GPM Fuel Filter Funnel for ~$35.00. It really does a good job screening out debris. I purchase my diesel fuel from a high volume station that serves all the locals and have not had a problem with water contamination. I did rinse out the filter once and no water ran through the screen. My only complaint with Mr. Funnel is that it leaves some residual fuel in the funnel due to insufficient "head pressure". I use another regular large filter (very cheap) to pour the residual back into my 5 G can for reuse. Jay

Thanks Jay. Looks like it'll do the job nicely and I guess you could even just dump the residual back into the original container if you didn't have another filter.

I use a funnel with a fuel sock on it that separates water and dirt from diesel or gas. Works really well and there is no residual fuel to worry about. I think I bought it from a racing place on-line.

Finally found it: Ordered it from Dennis Kirk
Part# 290011
6 Qt Funnel with Water-Repellent Pre-Filter (9 in. D)
$17.99

Cheaper and maybe works better?

They have other sizes as well.

Do you know what the flow is? gpm?

Reasonably fast. I take the spout off of a 6 gallon jug and pour it in at a moderate rate. There is a lot of surface area. The fabric really does not appear to slow down the flow. I did a test and added some water to gas and it did separate it out. It is also amazing to see all of the rust particles, etc. that come out of the plastic gas can!

We use the 30-gal gas caddy manufactured here in my home town by Handy Manufacturing. Makes it nice when time for fuel cuz I can load/unload into back of truck with loader and eliminates having to lug heavy, leaky cans. Not the cheapest alternative but definately more user friendly and cleaner!! I can't keep those little yellow seals/discs that keep the fuel from leaking out nozzle (or keep dirt & debris out) around for more than a month or two before I lose em! Pain in the a*# to boot. I use a military issue plastic fuel can. Its just like the old jerry cans with three handles on top. It has a spout about 18 inches long, you hold the can with one hand and put the spout in, then grab a differant handle with the other hand and pour it in. I need to get the spout for diesel, it is about 1 1/8" in diameter to flow quicker. JC

Pouring and lighting mixed 2-stroke gasoline into a kerosene appliance could be a potentially dangerous situation.

Understatement of the year. For example, gasoline in a kerosene lamp will cause it to explode, spraying flaming gasoline all over the place. 100 years ago many people were killed and maimed by the erratic and mislabeled fuels of the day (e.g. you buy lamp oil and it happens to be gasoline or just be too light and flammable to work safely in a lamp designed for kerosene).

Even if you put diesel in a red container - which is a bad idea and illegal - no matter what you do, do not put gasoline in a blue or yellow container.

That is a pretty nifty looking device, and I love the lifts I found on their site, but dollar for dollar the caddy makes my gravity tank look like a bargain. I paid a little less than $600 dollars for my tank, stand, hose and filter. It will hold more than I can use in a year, but the oil company will bring me a year's supply and charge me less per gallon than going and filling up a can.

If you don't use your machine a lot, a gravity tank wouldn't make sense, but your fuel caddy would wear me out running to town (exaggeration).

35 gallon plastic barrel $10.00, $20.00 barrel pump from harborfrieght,and $4.00 piece of 3/4 hose.it pumps a quart
per turn so its pretty quick.
and if you wanted to get a little fancier you could put a
brass ball shut off on it to stop it from spilling out of the hose when your done.I keep in the back corner of my dump trailer so its perfect hieght and always with the machine
