What have you done to your Branson today?

Just finished two hours snow plowing, will have to go back out tomorrow and finish it up about 6" fluffy stuff.

Yeah, it has a block heater. It's a candle in the wind up here. And my less than 1 year old battery died as soon as it got "for real" cold. The long term solution is a new place with a heated Quonset hut, but I think I'm looking at an oil pan heater, trans/hyd heater, and possibly a battery heater, depending on what kind of new battery I get. Looking at AGM's, probably going with the Optima. Need to get that sorted out this weekend.

Wasn't part of the original plan to have my new tractor sitting outside this winter. But our plans to move over late summer kind of blew up on us unexpectedly.

Well this is more what I did today;
Brought a ton pallet of coal in from outside and set it in the garage, supplemental heat for a month and a half.
Had to drop the rear blade, mount up my 3pt forks, and then put the blade back on for snow that will be coming.
Had a beautiful sunrise to start the day with.View attachment IMG_20180111_072130515.jpg

Hey LouNY,

How much weight does it take on those pallet forks before you feel the front end lifting up? I'm considering getting a heavy duty 3-point pallet fork to move my 275 gallon IBCs around. Those weigh about 2400 pounds when full of water.

Thanks.

I've not felt the front end get light using the forks I've lifted close to 2 tons with them and the tractor was still stable the rear tires squatted quite a bit.
The 8050 is a heavy tractor, close to 8000# for the tractor then another 2000# for the loader and 1200# of rear wheel weights. The only time I've had the front end get light was pulling
my neighbors 1206 and manure spreader when he got stuck, I had a quick hitch on the rear that day and we chained higher then recommended but she was still good.

Put my battery back on a maintainer after using for hay delivery. Since I use a full set of lights, including cab mounted lights, run the fan at high speeds, and when the humidity requires it, the AC too, it puts a big drain on the battery. So to ensure reliable starting, I keep it on one.

Been using that AC a lot lately, have you?

:laughing:

I had to replace my battery last week. The OEM wet cell Interstate died the first time the temp dropped below -20 F. I have an AGM Optima in it now. Don't expect any further battery issues now.

Took this today. The tractor's actually clean for a change.
