What have you done to your Branson today?

Well, had a slight disagreement with the forks today with a touch of my own stupidity in between.

Now for the story. We took a couple eucalyptus trees down and I had a couple of logs on the forks. Decided to park the tractor, tilt the forks back a little bit and lower the loader to the ground.

Went to move some branches to the pile, came back to the tractor, didn't realize the front wheels were in an high spot on the ground, which means the loader was lower a bit more than usual. Proceed to fully tilt the forks back, then I lift the loader and found out that rail on the forks hit the winch quite hard.

The rail did hit one of the fittings, but being a swivel 90 degree fitting, it simply rotate out of the way without any damage whatsoever.

Good thing I didn't paint the attachment yet.

Lol, could be worse. Maybe it will clear now that everything is bent properly.

I say it's a good thing your winch mounting was sturdier then the little headache rack on the forks.
But knowing the quality of work you do I expect that the repaired/replacement will be nicer anyway.

That headache rack was mostly a handle for when my dad is pruning trees or basically when we're doing sketchy stuff with the loader up high. Just having a place to grab onto, makes it much more comfortable to be up there.

I'll make it stronger, but not skid steer attachment strong though.

Well. you will just have to use your fabrication skills to make a repair that is much improved.

Have you considered getting an IBC tote and cut out an opening to step in (with safety chain added across the opening)? It can be fastened to the fork rack to keep it from accidentally sliding off.

Yes I have. I actually have 4 IBC totes that I could use. Two I kept ready for fire prevention if needed. The other two have a sticky goo inside that's a pain to remove. Some sort of vegetal oil or something, so I have considered cutting one of those and having it setup as a basket. I may do it at some point.

Even without the tank & just the cage there’s sticky goo?

It's just inside the tank. The cage is fine.

Turns out it's molasses that's mixed into cattle feed.

I'll do that at some point. I also have two other cages that I use for firewood.

Put the rear chains on the Branson this afternoon so this coming storm shouldn't be too bad, didn't do the IH 574 yet.
I'm getting slower it took me an hour and half, dang it.

That sun shows how dirty my windows are but at 26F I'm not going to wash them today.

which I hadn't chained up finally got it dug out and started it's gettnig dark by then so just said the heck with it and called it a day.

How many inches did you end up getting Lou? I know the Albany area got smashed.

We're gonna have to get you and Slowpoke Slim in a race someday!

I measured 30" the official number that I heard was 38"
She's got just under 900 hours, certainly would not have expected a water pump to go that soon.

/ What have you done to your Branson today? #738
That is very surprising at 900 hours. Did it start leaking or just quit pumping? I have had the cheap aluminum impellers they use today come apart. Hopefully you will not have any issues locating a pump!

Bearings went out, shaft flopping around.
Yea, called my dealer yesterday haven't heard back from him yet.

Sorry to hear about your water pump Lou. That is surprising for sure.

I just hope that they can find you one. I know that model is a pretty rare duck around here. Don't think I've even seen one in person.

Is that still a Cummins engine? Maybe a Cummins part number will cross over?
