What is better than a kubota GR2120?

Scalping on tight turns is usually a symptom of incorrect gage wheel settings.

the scalping was being done on tight turns by the front tires o the b 3200,
the GR2120 had no issues

I have a B3200 which is not quite as big but none the less I finally figured out it was too heavy for the lawn D/A me. that's when I bought the 2120

You're mowing 3.5 acres with a garden tractor and a 54" deck? I think you just described cruel and inhumane punishment.

It's done the job for 8 years and was still going. I've considered jumping up to a small B series but we're back to disengaging the 4WD on tight turns and weight issues. The GR is ~ 950 lbs, BX 1880 ~ 1400 with the deck, also more $$

My hills are quite steep and most I've talked to advised against a zero turn. I've had several regular mowers in the past and sliding down hills sideways is not something the wife would enjoy as she likes to mow. so the 4wd was almost mandatory. The weather here can be quite unpredictable precipitation wise so one doesn't always get to choose when to mow especially in the spring.

You need a ventrac. It's honestly right up anyone on this forums alley, just need a reason to own one. Get the double wheels and off you go!
New ones can be remote controlled down the steep stuff even, they are really impressive machines.

I looked at the offerings a few years ago, had one too many slide outs on my zero turn and compact tractor was crushing the lawn. Bought the GT2120 diesel and have never regretted it. Wife likes the smoothness of the cut and can put accessories like a REAL snowblower on it. It looked me like there are three tiers of small yard mowers those being the big box throwaways, the Kubota and John Deere models, the ventrac (pricey) models. After evaluating three, I decided the Kubota was for me. (I only take care of a couple of acres that I actually mow.)

If all you're using it for is mowing, you might consider a Cub Cadet ZTXS series zero turn. They have steering wheel controlled front wheels and work great on hills. Plus, it is a true zero turn mower.

Im not a cub cadet fan, but that is what is needed on slopes, if that steering wheel truly operates the front tires, I like the built in headlights and the seat that holds you in place.
I just may change my mind about the cub cadet.

The headlights are all but useless, so if you really need to use it in the dark you would probably have add aftermarket lights. The seat is comfortable, but if you have very rough ground, you may wind up unplugging the seat switch because it is ultra-sensitive (see my thread on the CC ZTXS5 54 for good, bad and ugly report on this mower).

I will say that mine is rock-solid on slopes.
