+1

Snowblower gets rid of snow. Pushing show just raises mounds that make drifting worse.

If you live in serious snow country, you need a blower. FEL's take too long, may not reach far enough out to deposit snow.

When it gets that deep , nothing beats a loader . I do not like blowers in urban situations . I spent the last 4 days on my 316 / 4 way blade pushing 10+ and it was all Icould handle .Thank the Lord for that Cozy Cab .

When it gets that deep, a blower is the best tool. For really deep snow, you can't beat Grsthegreat's setup. Just ask him. I can't imagine how long it would take with a loader

(unless you have unimog) :D

For a tractor, I like an FEL plow with a blower on the back, or a rear blade instead of the blower if you get less snow or really need to scrape down. Or if you get a lot of snow, can't really beat a unimog.... :)

FatTire,
You MUST have some pics of that for us???

IMHO the most efficient is the plow, that's why most Highway departments use them. It's also the fastest for me and my 1/4 mile drive. If I have to move the banks back, I can just straddle it, lock down the lateral float, and with the blade 2-3 inches high go at it. I'm fortunate to have the room to push the snow and a tractor/blade combo with enough grunt to do it.

I think a lot depends on each individual's particular situation but whatever method you choose, a CAB with heat makes it much easier!

1962 MB Unimog with a Beilhack blower. The blower was built in '63. The truck has a gasoline engine, the blower is a 110 hp diesel with PTO drive. Running this thing is even more fun than the tractor. This winter I plow snow into berms near the edge of the driveway/parking areas, but not past, then blow it away.

Video from my first day with the machine, trying to cut through some rock hard drifted snow. (I've learned a lot about operating this thing since then. BTW- The guy in the overalls is the guy I bought it from. He owns several Unimogs that he uses on his farm. Super nice guy, lives near us.

Most efficient? if you're talking energy efficiency, I'd go 100% solar.
Works every year for the past 20,000 years. And I haven't had to lift a muscle or burn any petrol.
Of course that takes 3 to 6 months to finish the job.
Like everything in the universe, if you want it done faster, that takes more energy, and usually a loss in efficiency.
