MY new B 7800 was delivered today, my first tractor. NO, I do not have pictures yet. After paying cash for the tractor I did not have enough money for a good digital camera /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This is a real newbie trick, I have a woods BB60 Rotary Cutter that I took off to hall a trailer and can not get it back on again. I attach the lift arms, no problem. The top link attaches to the cutters clevis, no problem. What I can not get connected is the cutters driveline to the tractors PTO shaft. I spin the shaft so that it lines up with the cutters driveline slide it on and it goes about ½ way. I can not get it to slide all the way so that it will click.

So here’s my question, what am I missing, what is the secret handshake between these two /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

rpeter-
Are you pushing on the little spring loaded button? Hold it in while you slide the well-greased PTO parts together. Sometimes you have to push hard!!! Hope this helps.
Regards, Mike

The whole collar is spring loaded and I am pulling back on it. Did not notice a spring loaded button on the collar. Did I miss something /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I don't think you missed anything. Usually these connectors have a button or a collar, but not both. Yours apparently has a collar.

I wonder if you can pull the collar too hard, like past neutral, if you will? Maybe if you try letting up a little as the collar slides over the notch? Just a thought. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had the same problem. search my post in the attachment section. 'can't get pto shaft on tractor" one guy posted a picture that made it real clear and other posters discussed all the other types of locks. Good Luck.

This would be the thread WW posts about:

Link

MikePA: Cleaned up long URL. Please review your message before posting it. It's simple not to do this. Just insert a descriptive word or two between the {url=http://whatever}Enter words here{/url} instead of the entire URL. Replace parentheses with brackets in previous example.

Thanks guys, that was a real good thread. Sometimes I get so frustrated I can not think straight. I should have done a search first /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I did pull back, but did not think of twisting. I sure was shouting, looks like it should have been twist and shout /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have the pull and slide collar on some of my implements and you handle it just as described. On some of the implements that came with the new M5700 at the farm there is a different kind of collar. It's not the straight pull, slide and release type. This type of collar has to be rotated before sliding on to the PTO shaft and then released to lock. It took me a little while to figure that one out. You may have one of this type. Check it out.

Congrats on the paid off tractor. I still fight with my PTO shaft on a regular basis. I just cannot get the right positioning and twisting motion down.

I guess if I did it everyday, it would help. But every few months it turns out to be a new learning experience with a steep curve.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
