It leaked at the top of the priority flow valve where it connects to the pump.

That banjo fitting had 2 o-rings, one on the inside that sealed the connection tube to the pump and one on the outside that sealed the fitting to the valve. Since it was flowing from the tube area I figured it must have been the o-ring on the inside. There wasn't a leak on the outside of the fitting. Again, I assumed it was the inside one but didn't prove it.

The one on the outside didn't look bad but the one on the inside was in pretty bad shape.

I didn't see any leaks at any of the other connections but since I had the valve off the tractor I went ahead and replaced the o-rings on the bottom banjo fitting and the compression fitting while I was at it.

It's good practice to go ahead and repalce all disturbed gaskets and orings when doing that kind of repair.. .. good insurance.. even if not needed all the time.

I agree...

Here is a detail of the 1710 priority valve and the o-rings I replaced.

My valve is similar to the full view but the top connection is the same as the insert in the lower right corner.

In the full-view pic below I replaced the following o-rings: #5 on the underneath right connection, both #7's on the underneath banjo fitting, and one on the compression fitting (#9) that isn't shown in the pic.

In the insert pic I replaced the #5 (outer o-ring) and #6 (inner o-ring and probable cause of leak). I did not take #23 out therefore I did not replace the #6 or #7 o-rings on top.

You are going to continue blowing out those seals once they start leaking. The leak will stop for awhile then start again. New Holland has a repair kit for that problem it is part no. SBA340060180 $156.15. It comes with complete instructions. parts necessary for the repair
Either visit the web site partspring.com to order this or you may call 1-888-772-7414 and they would be glad to help you.

You've got to be kidding...

I'm not "blowing out seals" but rather simply replacing parts that weathered over a decade of sitting out in the elements.

Yes, replacing the o-rings fixed the leak and everything has been fine for some time now.

For $156 I can replace 312 50 cent o-rings... why would I even consider the "fix" you mentioned?!

Sounds like you're fishing for problems that you or your company sells parts for. Shame on you for attempting to use this forum for the benefit of you!

I'm not fishing for parts. I'm trying to help you. I have been working on Ford and new holland products for 25 years. Ive been here since 1710 was new. I'been through the 2 or 3 fixes Ford had until they came up with the current kit. The tube wears inside and the orings just keep blowing out. If you want to just keep replacing the oring and the oil you loose everytime it blows this is your choice. I was just trying to help you fix your problem permanetly. I apologize if I offended you in any way as it was not meant to be that way.

No, no, no please let me apologize to you!

Yesterday was a VERY bad day and you happened to be the first in my path but excuses only please the person giving them and don't excuse my venting.

This site is lucky to have a NH mechanic onboard and I hope you and the rest of the members who might have read my post will forgive me.

Old thread same problem. Seems issue is something regarding alignment of the Diverter and the Pump. I am wondering if I can relocate the diverter and hard line the connection with a Hydraulic hose? My dealership knows nothing about this issue. I tried looking up the parts that NHMECHANIC spoke of but now they are almost $300.00. Since I have the ability if I thread the top of the Diverter and install a hydraulic connector and then thread the bottom of the pump "the part that takes three 10mm screws to secure it to the bottom of the pump" install a hydraulic connector there then make a hydraulic hose to connect the two together. Can someone tell me how much pressure would be at that point?

I have the same problem and the kit costs $364 now. Is there anything else that can be done? Is the kit easy to install?
