I got one of these made by cam superline no electric pump I run it off the rear remotes up and down all day long no dead battery ..View attachment 646212

I bought one of those CAM Superline Woodsman dump trailers about 18 months ago. I had been looking for one for a couple of years prior to that. Unfortunately, they have not been made for 5 years or so. CAM discontinued them. It's too bad, because I think they are the perfect dump trailer for use in the woods. They are narrow enough to fit down my woods trails without a problem, yet they have a high enough weight and volume capacity to work well with a compact tractor. They are significantly heavier duty than all of the ATV trailers I've seen out there. You could get them set up to run off tractor hydraulics, or get them with their own electro-hydraulic pump with a battery to run it. They generally were not shipped as street legal, but with the addition of some lights, it's easy to make them so.

I have the hydraulic pump and battery, since I wanted to be able to run it behind my pickup as well as behind my tractor. I have not added lights and registered it yet, but I'll get round to it one of these days.

In short: If you see one of these in good shape, I'd highly recommend grabbing it.

I also have a Polar model 8262 Tandem Axle Utility Trailer. Rated for 1500#. I added the optional side extensions to increase capacity a bit. It's too small and too light-duty to be of much use behind my tractor, but it makes a good match for my Coot antique ATV. The tandem axle with walking beam suspension really helps in the rough terrain. It also spreads the load, so you get less rutting on soft ground. It's hand dump, but balanced well enough that it's easy to dump. You can get the same thing with a single axles for significantly less, the Polar model 8233. Yes, they have a poly tub, but it's tough. Mine has held up well (and no rust to worry about if you leave something wet in there.) I'm not saying this is the best trailer in its size range. There are some better, and some worse. There are a ton of options out there is you are looking for more of an ATV/Side-by-side sized trailer, some of which get up into the range of being useful behind a compact tractor.

There are a couple of threads on here about good trailers for use behind compact tractors. With lots of different makes and models suggested. If you tell us a bit more about your needs and anticipated uses, folks can probably tailor their suggestions a bit better.

Where did you get it?

Where did you get it?

Bought it used from a guy a couple of hours down the road from me. I actually went to look at his log forwarding trailer, which he was selling because he was moving in to town. I saw the Woodsman, and ended up buying both of them.

If you are looking for similar-duty dump trailers that are very well made, Check out Pronovost's offerings. In particular, the P-503 (a little bit wider and a bit shorter than the Woodsman) and the P-505 (about a foot wider and similar length to the Woodsman). Well made units. Several TBN members own one - hopefully one or two of them will chime in.

A small flat rack could be bought for $500 and will be bigger than what you need but they can haul allot

I bought a small trailer from Harbor Freight and made my own side rails. I pull with my Quad but they have larger sizes too. It works great for me.IMG_20170605_164540168.jpg

I have two of the HF 40x48" trailers, a clean one with plates for a camping jeep trailer, and a $25 junker I put an IBC tote on for watering in the orchard. These are smaller than what you could easily pull. My smaller Yanmar is one step smaller in weight and pto hp than your MF. The tote on the little HF trailer weighs total over 2500 lbs, and I pull this weight up and down some substantial slopes in the orchard. Way overloaded but I don't need highway safety margin in this application. I bent the flimsy tongue backing up uphill then reinforced that, no other damage in several years of this gross abuse.

But my favorite trailer for general use is a 4x8 1 ton (gross) Snow Bear, 500 lbs empty, 400 with all the walls off. This is narrow enough to fit through wherever the smaller Yanmar will go and is near identical to the width of my ancient Subaru Outback. Snaking that combo through a tight spot in a parking lot has spooked people at times. :) The advantage to this one is I can load it then hook to the car and go down the highway.

The 4x8 tilts for driving onto it. I added a lift mechanism using a $59 HF winch for dump runs. But I nearly never need to tilt it. Another tilt pic dumping a half yard of sand. Get something similar but with power tilt if you need to dump often.

Based on my experience I don't think pulling a 2000 lb (gross) trailer is too much for your tractor.

I also have a Polar trailer with tandem wheels and side extensions. We use it a lot behind our ATV. We have hauled a lot of wood and leaves with it. If you were to get this, the one word of warning is to not hang too much weight over the back lip. We piled a bunch of logs in it with them hanging 6-8 feet over the back end and then travelled over uneven ground. The leverage of the weight hanging over the back end bent the frame under the front end some where it latches to the trailer tongue. I was able to straighten it some by putting extra weight in the front and going over uneven ground to reverse the action that caused the bend in the first place, but it has never quite returned to original shape. Other than that, we love the trailer....very useful.
