Well we have all seen everyone's antique tractors and toys on this site...what about appliances and household Items??

What do you got? Where did it come from? How long have you/your family had it? Does it work better then your newer appliances??

Ill get the ball rolling...

This came with my house I bought last year...Previous owner said it worked great...and they were right!! I think I Surprised them by keeping it..and intending to use it

I believe its a 1940s-1950s.... Upright GE Freezer....

I haven't put it into full service yet due to not really needing an extra freezer at the time also it had the original power cord on it that was spliced into multiple times to make cord longer and taped back together with MASKING TAPE....so I plugged it in shortly after buying the house...didnt venture very far away from it during this trial...made sure it worked and unplugged it until a rainy day that I had time to put a new power cord and plug on it....TODAY WAS THAT RAINY DAY....got a new cord on it cleaned it up..and its looking and working pretty good!!

Nice freezer. Your lucky to get a 1/4 of that out of a new one. Don't have anything from the 40's-50's as far a household stuff, but my dishwasher is from the late 60's. She still look's and works real nice! Married 33 years this summer!

Nice freezer. Glad to hear you're gonna keep her going. I love the looks of them old freezers.

When I was 5 a guy who worked maintenance for the city I live in had an old fridge like that that he kept soda pop in.

At the age of 5 I started visiting with him at the city shop that was a few blocks from our house. He'd give me a Soda from the fridge and even had animal crackers that we snacked on together.

My mom apologized one day about me coming over and bugging him too often. But he said he didn't mind and that enjoyed having me there.

I used to help him change oil in the grader, and lawn mowers as well.

I remember once when I was around 7 or 8. We had a blizzard one day and me and my older brother were coming back from the convenience store walking and the city maintenance man gave us a ride back home in the grader.

He retired and no longer works for the city or lives here anymore.

Coffee grinder. No idea how old it is. I bought it on eBay and made the wooden mounting for it. Cabin rules are: Person with coffee to grind has the right-of-way over sleepers.

I have what my great grandfather called a carriage lamp. It clips on the front flat board of a horse drawn carriage. Let me tell you, it still works and you would only be one very short step up from a candle in a quart Mason jar using this light. The glass bulb and glass mirror reflector in the back are still in perfect shape.

Its a Dietz - Beacon Dash Lamp - out of New York. We use to light it for special occasions but not anymore. I just don't see how we could ever replace any of the parts - particularly the glass ones - if they were damaged.

Take the serial and model number of that freezer and you should be able to find the year. We have the wife's grandparents 1957 GE fridge and it still works. I need to give it a good paint job though.

Our freezer is a Coldspot, don't know where the serial number is, but if around the compressor, that is against a wall and not accessible right now.
We got it from my wife's family around 1987, and it was old then. Her dad had repainted it. Very Heavy. put it in the basement of our townhouse, then finished off the basement. When we sold the townhouse I wanted to just leave it, but my wife said otherwise. I had finished the basement after it was put in, and I had to remove the utility room door frame to get it out. I think in my next house it was kept in the garage, I can't remember for sure. I've moved it twice after that, and it just keeps on working. My dad has a couple old refrigerators, one might be from the 40's or 50's. I remember him having an old wooden ice box when I was young, but think it got taken to the dump.
