I was going to use this thread as a garage sale... but lost the camera. Got way more antiques than you can shake a stick at... looking to get rid of some. List is super long since my mother was an antique dealer that loved to buy. Dad repaired all the old junk to try and make a profit... (key word, *try*)

Some of the better ones came from family, circa 1923 wife's grand parents 1st refrigerator converted into a kegorator (had to gut the sulphur dioxide cooling system and install a modern mini-fridge cooling system). Untouched circa 1935? Coke machine (6 cents) bottles from her grand father's medical office, eye doctor. Also, a knife and fork with bone handle from my grandparents.

Had a cool refrigerator in this house that was 30 years old. Had a button you could press that would kick the door open. Didn't know about the button but one day I leaned against it and the door tried to open. Scared the crap out of me. Replaced it since you could not touch the dishwasher and the refrigerator at the same time without getting shocked.

The old GE had a foot pedal refrigerator door opener... my grandmother had one and really enjoyed the convenience.

The majority of my blacksmith tools are over a 100 years old. My heavy anvil goes back to 1840- and is solid and just right for the job! It is the little things, the piece of furniture, the stoneware pitcher that my mother's (adoptive) mother fixed her lemonade in when she was 8, the retirement gold watch dated 1897 - nothing really valuable monetarily, but possessing a value because of what they represent - a bridge to a time and place in the past. ... I sit at the same table in our kitchen that I sat at as a kid, and that my mother sat at in 1930- when it was already 50 years old.

Our house was built by my wife's grandfather a little over 100 years ago and has been in her family the whole time. Naturally, there are old things tucked away all over the place. The biggest old appliance we still have is the old wood cook stove. It currently resides in the guest cottage, and I am too lazy to go out and take a picture tonight. What I will share, however, are two Aladdin lamps that have been here since who knows when.

The white lamp with gold tone metal is a model B, and has lived on a corner shelf in the kitchen/ dining room for as long as I can remember. I cleaned it up, bought a new wick, mantle and shade. It now stays in the living room.

The silver one was a complete surprise. I was rummaging through a box of stuff, when I cane across a bunch of lamp parts. They were caked over with decades of old, varnished kerosene, so I couldn't even tell what kind of shape they were in. I took all the pieces and soaked them in diesel fuel for a few days, then brushed the old kerosene and grime off. The lamp, a model 11, was in great shape, but it had no chimney, shade, shade holder, wick, or mantle. As it ends up, Aladdin no longer makes mantles for model 11. I was able to get an adapter that uses model B mantles. Restoration complete!

We have several other flat wick lamps, but these Aladdins are my favorites.

Ive used that model corn husker.

Can you...or someone...explain what it's used for and how it's used? There seems to be a lot of confusion on the internet concerning what is a "sheller", "husker" and a "shucker".

You hold it like this:

And then you do this:

And then your hands look like this...

...unless you do this.

I can't tell exactly what he's doing with the tool, although it is clear that he is using it in the process of removing the ear of corn from the corn stalk. It isn't sharp, so I don't think he is cutting anything with it, so I'm still mystified.

I also have a few Aladdins.
There is a whole web site that the collectors maintain that is quite interesting.(Google search should locate it)
Certain Aladins fetch amazing prices.
