I would say the best reason to buy a used tractor these days is to avoid emissions and computers. I was watching a youtube video about a husband and wife at a Kubota Dealership shopping for a tractor. Very interesting. There certainly are a lot of gadgets on the L Grand series that could compel someone to buy new over used. I hope that Kubota doesn't start to cheap out on the strength and quality of their basic tractor in favor of these bells and whistles which yield better profits.

I have to confess. When I bought two new JDs in the 90s, a 6200 and 770, I thought little of Kubota. I thought they were behind the times, with outdated styling, ugly and did not fetch much used. Obviously, they have come a long way, and really earned my respect for a solid honest product. It was only the other day, that I realized that my Kubota equipment has NEVER let me down. I can't say that for Deere.

No. The thread itself may be just that. My hobby among others is observing humans. In many cases, what I see is that EGO will defend itself no matter how obvious or ridiculous the facade may be. Wow, that's one of the most poorly thought out responses I've ever heard. I almost never buy new with the exception of my Kubota. The only reason I purchased it new was because they hold their value so well. I've never bought another new vehicle....ever. I also bought my wife a 1yr old Cadillac with 4,500 miles. I also have a $120,000 Maserati that I bought used. Boat, used....snowmobiles...used. All of these items I paid cash for. Don't assume people who by used can't afford new because in many cases they can buy and sell you in cash because they were smart enough with their money to buy used. Just my opinion.

Funny. I walked into a Kubota last week to buy antifreeze. I figured I had a bunch of Kubota engines requiring a coolant change and I might as well get the most appropriate stuff. Shocked! I think I saw Kubota toothbrushes but no antifreeze!

Smut - for all I know the Kioti might be better than the Kubota. I've had dealings with both dealerships and chose the one over the other when he sold me a Ford( my first tractor - 1982 ). Let me put it this way - I would not take my 16# sledge hammer to the local Kioti dealership for repairs or service.

And I'm real sorry - but YOU CAN NOT rule out the quality of the dealership when you are considering the purchase of a new tractor.

My new 2009 Kubota M6040 has all the controls in the "right places", fits me like a glove and has plenty of power. I couldn't ask for much more

When we were shopping for our CUT, I actually liked the layout and controls of the comparable John Deere better, but we both hated the salesman AND the attitudes we perceived on our several visits to check out the dealership- whereas we really liked the local Kubota dealership [where the manager is also their only salesman].

I had similar findings for the one Mahindra dealership nearby.

Finally, there are NO Kioti dealerships near us.

Buying a new tractor was one of the worst mistakes I ever made. Only because I tried to sell it too soon after. If money were no object, it would not have bothered me. So many factors. Only one being what a person happens to be passionate about. I don't care about the name and for the most part, the quality of my cooking pots and pans. A chef might have trouble understanding that.

It's like so many camera manufacturers use the SONY video chip. It's a mark of quality. You have to start with a quality image. The camera won't be worth a crap if the Image is not of high quality.

Same with Kubota. I have Kubota Engines in Generators, Mowing equipment and a Steiner. GREAT high quality engines and thank god all Tier ZERO!

But basically my money is on any Japanese Diesel.

or Honda gas engines [my splitter and 2 cars have been bullet-proof- Knock wood!].

I'm not sure what a power ranger is, but.... I love my Kubota equipment, and that is all that matters to me... Now I just have to find one of those toothbrushes...
