I need help from a Bush Hog pro.
I am thinking about purchasing this Bush Hog rotary cutter but I dont know what model it is.
Does anyone know?
I want to know the model so I can order replacement parts if it needs it.
Sorry this is the only photo I have. It is a 5 foot Bush Hog.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like it might be a 305.If it is 6 feet wide, it would be a 306.

Well, for starters welcome to the forum. Can't say for sure, but looks like it might be an older rhino. Check around the gearbox area and on the mower deck. I think there should be some kind of manufacturing plate on it somewhere. That's the best I got for you and again welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the help MESSMAKER, I had someone else tell me It might be an older model 305. I have seen a 305 that looked like this but not one where the triangular bracing goes all the way over the deck. Maybe the one I知 looking at is an older model?

Thanks Phillip w. Been farming a couple years but just got into the tractor life. Found a lot of great info here so figured I better join.
Thanks for your help on the Rotary cutter.

It might be a 305 as I am not sure, but it is not that old as it has a triangular back...maybe from the 1960's? The really old ones have square backs and far more simple rear wheels mounting designs (that were prone to crack). Sadly my model number has gone the way of the doo doo bird, but it is similar to that, but much older.

Are parts available for the 305?

I know parts are available for the 305, but I dont know know for that old of one. I guess I was assuming it would have similar parts. That is probably not a wise assumption.

I need a heavy duty bush hog, but can’t afford a brand new one.
Thanks for the help BrokenTrack.

Here is a link to the 305/306 operators manual from the Bush Hog web site: http://www.bushhog.com/uploads/documents/BHRotaryCutter305-306OM-03.pdf
It does look like the picture in the manual. As far as parts being available for it from Bush Hog might be worth a call to them.
edit: sorry, got my pictures confused, the picture in post #4, not the picture in post #1, looks like the one in this manual .

Interesting story as my bushog...bought when Bushhog first started I am sure, lost just the tip of the buildings plate where the @#$%^&* model number was. I have everything else, just not that little corner! So honestly I am not sure what I have, but I can tell you this Black Sheep with sincerity, I am like you and would not want a new one even if I could. You just cannot buy those heavy duty gear boxes anymore. That to me makes saving these old gems as long as possible...

So last year mine hit a rock and finally broke the ears off the gearbox. I tore it all down, and while I was not able to find any parts available from Bushhog, it seemed I did not need too. I took it to a machine shop and because the casting on the gear box was so thick, we turned it down just a bit, fitted it with a new flange and welded it on. We even added some new bearings while we were in there. (Standard sized bearings so you can get them anywhere).

Will the old girl whack bushes for another 60 years? I am not sure, but the legend lives on. Not bad considering the abuse they take.

So the moral of this super long story is; even if you cannot get parts for it, don't give up on it as it still might have some kick in her yet. (By the way, the cost was $315 to rebuild it).
