I distinguish new technologies and alternative energy generation as totally separate and distinct issues from the greenwashing of tax grabs that are soooo attractive to many govts.....

I've always had a personal interest in energy efficiency, and viewed being totally off-grid as attractive.... and that was long before many govts decided to drive energy costs through the roof.

As nobody of consequence has done any time for criminal activity in the power market here yet, we will soon be moving on to the next order of magnitude scam - Carbon Cap n Trade. I'd heard various references to it, so I tracked down the Interpol report on Carbon Trading, attached here..... interesting reading about criminal activity, writ large.....

As carbon trading journalist, Mark Shapiro, sums up "unlike traditional commodities, which sometimes during the course of their market exchange must be delivered to someone in physical form, the carbon market is based on the lack of delivery of an invisible substance to no one" .

OTOH, like most sane people, I value clean air and water..... so these greenwashing scams are doubly irritating as they not only waste tax dollars, but also do a good job of contaminating beneficial environmental work.

I have no doubt that the climate may be warming because it has done so many times in the past. The scam is that we can do anything about it. We could if we wanted to because real technological solutions are avaliable but they won't talk about it because of the politics and money involved. That tells me we can't or won't really do anything and the rest is just so much BS and a scam. If it were truly a serious problem, we'd take serious and meaningful measures to deal with it. More taxes, solar, wind and ethanol are not serious nor are they meaningful or meant to deal with any real problem effectively. That leaves just more cons and boondoggles as the answers to what's going on. It's little wonder when you realize that most of our politicians are lawyers and lawyers don't make money by solving problems. They make money by exacerbating, inflating and dragging problems out as long as they possibly can.

At present bout all you can do is remember who's a lawyer or professional politician who hasn't done anything meaningful and or who's trying to scam you and vote accordingly when you go to the voting booth. With that in mind, it's pretty easy to guess who I will and won't be voting for this time around. LOL I just wish the rest of the country would wise up and come to their senses.

There is proof that global temperatures have been rising over the short-term just like long-term cycle history but no one can prove that the cause is human. The temperatures on other planets have been rising also and as far as I know, there's no humans there. The politicians won't attempt to explain that.

Back on topic: I pay $0.06 per Kwh on the first 600Kwh then $0.09 per Kwh over that. Then they add fuel cost adjustments, regional distribution adjustments, a couple of other adjustments I don't remember and sales tax. It came out to about $380 for mid-July through mid-August. But it's been a steaming summer this year. And I have an all electric house. We usually make it up in the winter time when it's about $120 or less.
