What size plow for small garden?

My avatar is a pic of me plowing a garden about the size of yours with a 12 inch plow. That gave me enough time to really enjoy plowing and watching the dirt turn and smelling it before it took so long that it became work. It took about an hour plus a little more for squaring up the ends. The 5 bottom you talk about would not give me enough time to enjoy the task.

What I'm getting from the responses is that I need room to turn around and worrying about compaction. Well I have plenty of room to turn around. As far as compaction I was planning on getting subsoiler to run through my pastures where my horses and mules are, so I could just use it in the garden. Say do a checker pattern every other year?

That should work, However the 2 bottom plow wont work on the 4020. Ken Sweet

Don't worry about compaction. If you'll put the horse and mule manure on the garden earth worms will solve any compaction problems that's not going to occur in the garden any more than it would in a 640 acre wheat field.
