<font color="blue"> Does anybody miss the three point hitch and having two attachments of the machine at the same time ?
</font>

Hello Dave,

Some PT models offer an optional 3 pt hitch. I have it on the PT 2445, which allows simultaneous use of two implements, (with only one powered at a time).

Hi Doug I know some of the Pt models can have a backhoe atttached to the back of the unit and it is run by a hydrolic pto. I called power trac and spoke to a salesman and he said that they discontinued the three point hitch He said that they used to have the option for the larger tractors 45 - 60 hp. He said that people call and request the option but they are not offering it right now. I could probably drag something behind the unit like a disc that has wheels for travel . of a small trailer. Thanks David

Hey David:

Check my website (URL in my signature), or take a look at the "new" PT-180 on Power-trac's web-site. The PT-180 is very similar to my 13 year old PT-1418.

David34a:

Just another thought here. The power-tracs are very similar in capability to the Toro Dingo's and clones. If you're enjoying the research as much as I did, then take a look at the Toro Dingo's ( www.toro.com , click on "Professional Landscaper"), Kanga Loaders , the SS16 Cheetah I mentioned on another post ( SS16 Cheetah, and there's another tricycle type loader there too, very interesting), the Ramrod's ( RamRod Equipment ), Powerhouse's mini-skid loader ( Powerhouse Equipment )...I'm sure you can find more that I've forgotten. All of these are stand-on (rather than sit-on) skid-steer design , all have engines driving hydraulic pumps which drive hydraulic wheel motors, and all have a wealth of attachments that are driven off hydraulic remotes/PTO's. Now, I personally like the articulated steering rather than skid-steering design, and I personally much prefer a mo-chine that I can sit on rather than stand on! The kicker for me here is that all these machines pretty much start at about twice what you'd pay for a Power-trac and you can't even sit on 'em...go figure. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif As I've stated before, Power-trac is definitely doing something right, IMHO. This really makes me wonder why Power-trac doesn't have as many competitors as Toro's Dingo (I think the list is very small, maybe roughly Ventrac and one other in the US but these aren't hydraulic, and one hydraulic articulated machine of similar size in Europe that I don't think is even available in the US, plus a Kubota articulated loader that's much bigger and costs $40K or so...)

One thing I was considering (and what I figured was the most likely candidate to stumble across) was one of the small traditional CUT's of the "grey market" variety. I was keeping my eyes open for a grey-market Yanmar, Hinomoto, Iseki, or Mitsubishi tractor with a loader at a good price (and in good shape). In my opinion, around $3-4K (maybe $5K, if it was in unusually good condition) would've been an irresistible price for a Yanmar 1300D w/ Loader (or other grey market equivalent). A Kubota, John Deere, or New Holland/Ford w/FEL simply wasn't anywhere to be found in that price range when I was looking. Some other possibilities I stumbled across where the Kioti tractors and some of the Chinese Tractors. Northern Tool sells the Chinese Jinma tractors at pretty amazing prices ( Nortrac Tractors. These were still above my budget with an FEL, and neither seemed to be available used. Kubota just recently introduced a BX1500 which I've heard is priced very competitively.

I had looked at the Power-trac web-site a few times and thought "Very cool, all the versatility of the Dingo and clones, but articulated steering and you sit on it...sure would like to stumble across one used". I figured that would never actually happen, but then I found an ad in the newspaper. A local landscaper (like 40 miles away) was selling a Power-trac 1418 with bucket, stump grinder, and power auger, so I went to take a look (and how convenient that I just happened to be towing the trailer with me at the time... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif). Obviously, I came back with it.

Now, I still wouldn't mind having a small traditional CUT in addition to the PT (they do different things well), but I really couldn't justify it unless I bought it for near nothing. Of course, I wouldn't mind having one of the Magnatrac's just to play with, and why not throw in a Dingo clone for good measure, eh? There's no such thing as too many "tractors", right? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Anyway, even though I've had to put some refurb work into mine, I'm still very, very pleased with it.

Hey Dave I sent you a reply before I read your letter. I also like to sit down while I operate a tractor. I like good value.
The Power trac looks very versastile. I also would like a garage full of differient tractors but I can't affort that or justify it to my wife.I also had thoughts of a gray maket tractor with a three point hitch for dragging attachments and a power track for the front end work. It looks like if I can spring for a power track I would have a lot of support from other owners like you thanks for all of the info.!

I looked at some of the web sites. I like that Power Trac is up front with there pricing. NO BS NO sales piches no middle man
The web sites were refiring me to dealers. What I really Dislike is asking about a product from a dealer ,and he doesn't stock the item but, He will get it for me and charge me shipping charges and the dealer markup what kind of customer service is this ? Personally I think it sucks !!!

Very informative. I checked them all out. You missed one that is used a lot in rental yards. It must hold up good, the Terramite. http://www.terramite.com/welcome.htm I am still thinking I need a Kubota BX22. The Power-Trac Has me thinking. I like the independent hydraulic drive on the PT-2430. Thanks again for all your research it was very helpful.

Hey Gary I sent you this private message I just thought I should post it also. I keep going back to the BX22 I like the versatility and the resale value and the desiel engine. I wish it had more hydrolic power like the Terramite T5 loader lift 1500 lbs backhoe digs 8' 1/2' feet deep. or the Ingersoll7000 series 7020 the backhoe digs 8' feet and the loader lift's 1200 lbs. the draw back is they have gas engines. and the T5 is two wheel drive. and the backhoes are removed with difficulty
I also have to ask myself how much power do I need ? how many hours will I really put on the tractor. And finally how many differient attachments do I need. To me what ever tractor I buy will be a compromise. If I could I would have more than one tractor to play with, than the choice would be so much easier.

I wen't out to a friends property and ran his 1953 Ford Jubalee
tractor It took Three of us to hook the disc up to the three point hitch what a pain! what if I was operating the tractor alone it would have been more of a pain to hook up the attachment. While I was running the tractor the front wheels were coming up off the ground sometimes after I ran up and down the ruts. My friend also told me to disc around the trees I said wouldn't it be a good idea to trim the branches a little higher with a chain saw before I disc around the trees He said no just duck your head. Well I ducked my head and went crashing through the small branches discing close to the trees.
Maby I am overly Cautious but I like all of the new safety features on the new tractors. Seat belts rops fops safetry switches. MY friend is from the old school he keeps telling me that a poor man has poor man's ways.I am not rich but I don't like to cut corners. I would rather have the right tool for the job. And If there is an easier way or better way of doing a job . That is the way I would like to do it. I feel more comefortable on a newer tractor. I just want a new tractor.!
