what tractor should I buy ?

Hmmm...interesting. Well, my suggestion would be this: after you've gotten whatever tractor/loader, wait until you see your neighbor with a pile of mulch or dirt or sand or whatever, then offer to help him. "Kill 'em with kindness" /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif...always helps to be on good terms with your neighbors...makes for a more pleasant experience at home!

hey dave you sound like a great guy . Will you be my neighbor ? It sounds like good advice. I'll try killing them with kindness. To be honest this is not what I really want to do to them though. David

I downloaded a price sheet for trhe PT425 and checked off a bunch of attachments and picked out two sets of tires bar and turf two buckets a backoe attachement and a bunch of other stuff for around 15,500. I was Just day dreaming some.
I would reallly enjoy this unit. I am sure it would serve my needs well and I would probably be the only one in Souther California to own one ? The price is good. I would not have to pay tax. But I would have to pay shipping and find some financing for the unit. I am hopeful to having my home refinanced in a week or to and my bills payed off and some cash than I can seriously look into is it realistic to buy one at this time they sound like a lot of fun and I would make the purchace on faith alone never visiting the factory. I'll see in the next couple of weeks and suggestion's guys
Thanks David

David,
I'm in the same boat as you are. I will be making the 425 purchase this summer with about the same dollar cost you are looking at. There has never been any doubt in my mind that this is the correct tractor for my needs.
In my case the shipping will be to Montana and I have not decided if I will pick up and transport or have it shipped. I plan on taking my wife to Tazewell, and both going through the maintenance training as well as test all the attachments. Like you, I will be the first in my area to have a PowerTrac, which I will enjoy very much. There is no doubt that this will create interest in PowerTrac and future purchase by others.

David & Paul:
Mine's an 1845, not a 425, but with the 425 you can do what I did this weekend - which I doubt any other available machines can match:
Yesterday, I mowed pastures for eight hours - lots of machines can do that. Today, I applied compost to a rose garden with the big bucket, dug up a water line with the hoe, moved several thousand pounds of cinder block wall rubble with the 4 n 1 bucket, redistributed the rubble with the hoe and moved some pallets with the forks. 7 or 8 implement changes, including removal of the mower - no change took a full minute.
I don't think there was any part of the job that a 425 wouldn't do except I mowed a larger area.

Amazing amount of work can be accomplished with these things, eh? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I remember dreading the thought of changing an implement on my 3pt hitch. Now, as you've said, 7 or 8 implement changes in a day is nothing. What I really like is I don't have to plan my projects in such detail to work around the implement changes. I just do it. As I've mentioned before, I can attach the large bucket, nest the small bucket with teeth(and soon to be grapple) in that, put the pallet forks in that and a few other odds and ends, too. Then I can drive off across my property and do some real work... Or it can all fit in the back of a full sized pick up truck or on a trailer and off you go. I love it. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I still get a kick out of what every single person says when they see mine for the first time: "I ain't never seen nothin' like that!" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Enjoy!

Do you guys have any Ideas what my best options will be. ? I will have a little cash and no debts and I know that power trac does not offer financing. Do You Have And Ideas on what would be the best way to finance a tractor.
I could borrow aginst my home and get a good rate. But what other options are there. I know cash is king. I think that I have been told that price is not negocitable with Powrer Trac,

If you have the PT delivered it will come on a freight truck. If you're close enough to the warehouse and have a trailer you can just go there to pick it up. In my case it was in Ft. Worth, about 35 miles away and I didn't have a trailer big enough to carry the PT plus all the attachments I ordered. The freight company had a contract home delivery firm that would deliver for, I think, around $200. That seemed high but I was in a bind. The real kicker was they wanted an extra $100 to send a truck with a lift gate since I didn't have an extra loading dock laying around. I had them deliver without the liftgate. When it arrived we backed him up to a large berm and drove the PT off then used it to unload the rest of the attachments. Worked quite well. The berm is now our offical loading dock. Just be aware of ALL the freight charges.

My 1845 was delivered by one of Power Trac's local guys (I paid PT - they arranged the deal and paid the hauler) with a big 5th wheel landscape trailer behind a pickup. Tractor and many attachments, maybe 5,000 lbs total, moved 700 miles, was $950.00 (a year ago). Showed up in my yard at 7am two days after PT got paid. I thought that was fair enough and certainly no hassle for me.

I financed mine through my local bank with a loan similar to a car loan and the bank wired the $$ to PT. Good terms.
