Have you seen Ed's picures?

If not, click here!

Scroll down until you see the attached pictures. There are a few of his backhoe modified to fit the PT425.

Hi David34a:

I guess in all this discussion, we really haven't asked one key question: exactly what is it that you intend to do with your tractor? Most folks I think would answer "mow and load", perhaps a couple of other things included occasionally. What's your answer? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I also had thoughts of a gray maket tractor with a three point hitch for dragging attachments and a power track for the front end work.

If you don't mind another PT owner weighing in with some thoughts, you might consider the idea of getting a PT with a rear 3 pt hitch. I know that option is available on the 2445 machine and would think it might also be available on other models. Thus far I have used it for box blade and tiller, sometimes multi-tasking /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif (one powered implement, one not). It is kind of the best of both worlds, IMHO.

I have no grass, I have no snow to deal with I have a hill rocky sloper acre. I want to use a back hoe some. I want to regrade my yard I want to set some fence post. I don't want the tractor make too much noise. Because I want to play with it for hours and I don't want my neighbors complaining. I want the tractor to be stable on a hillside.
I want to move a lot of dirt In the future I want to plant trees [ palms ] small nursey idea. I want to do some brush hogging. I have a Craftsman 23 hp [with hohler engine] and a 48" mower deck. I have never used the mower deck it is hanging on the wall in my garage. If the future I hope to have some grass.

Wow! Now there's a slippery slope to think twice about. Some of us are consumed with taming the rampant stuff. Turn our back on it and it just runs wild, gets totally out of hand. Thousands get spent. Power Trac thrives. And still the grass keeps us focussed:p

The landscaping industry was really onto something when they invented grass!

Weeds are us...

Sounds like you have a pretty clear idea of what you'll use it for. That's a great start! Sounds like you needs lots of versatility, and that's one of Power-trac's best features (not that traditional CUT's aren't versatile too, but all the hydraulic attachments just aren't available for traditional CUT's, although you could do some modifications to make them work). Let us know what you end up doing!

Oh, and don't worry about neighbor's complaining. When neighbor's see you've bought a compact tractor with a plethora of attachments, you'll become a very popular neighbor very quickly (unless your neighborhood is highly unusual)! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah, isn't it hysterical how certain things just become de facto standards for whatever reasons? I wonder what the next "big thing" will be?

Thanks for the humurous articles. One time I Had rented a large tractor and was happily playing with it in my back yard and a neighbor came up to me and looked at me and said
' YOU NEED A BIGGER YARD " another time a neighbor came out and was sitting in the middle of the steet watching me work with a bobcat 863 with a tooth bucket. It was 9pm in the summer time so I had to stop. A third time I was running this bob cat on my fence line and a neighbor came up to me and said I was kicking of too much dust. So he started soaking down my dirt well I was going up hill and turning on to a narrow ledge and the tires started spinning and I almost slipped off the shelf and rolled the bob cat needles to say I was really pissed off at that neighbor. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
