My first tractor was a 11HP Murray lawn tractor. It would do quite a bit of work with a set of tire chains. Soon after I got a Kubota B4200 12hp diesel. In 2008 I picked up a burned out MF 135 with power steering, 3cyl diesel for 500 dollars (+150 for the winter chains).
JD LX176 12 YRS W/ SNOW THRWR TWO PULL WAGONS. ONE WAGON DIED DO TO ROLLING OVER WITH, GOD ONLY KNOW HOW MANY ROCKS IN IT.
BOUGHT A CUB 5252E TO REPLACE THE JD AND PUT IT INTO RETIEREMENT BUT THE CUB HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR PAST 2 1/2 WEEKS AND THE JD IS STILL PURRING ALONG.
Of course my favorite (sort of tractor) was my 1968 Unimog which I let go this fall. As a kid I always dreamed of owning a duece and a half army truck. Being an avid off-roader I stepped up from a Suzuki Samurai to a Unimog in 1999 and lived the dream for 9 years. Taking over the family acreage meant no time for the Unimog for the past few years so it went to a new home this past fall.
My first tractor was a two wheel drive '81 JD 750. The first implement was a 4 ft Landpride BH. Great little tractor BH combo that can get in the narrow places very easily. Kept it for several years, then traded that one plus cash for an '84 JD 750 that with MFWD. It was great also, but all that eventually led me to where I am now with a 2001 4x4 790 w/FEL. I think this may be the last green machine I ever buy!!
The first one I drove was an old Oliver 77 row crop when I worked on a dairy farm. The first one I owned was a 8N, then a Oliver cletrack, then a Massey 85, now I have the 8n and Kioti DK35.
My first tractor that I bought about 10 years ago was an '81 2wh. dr. JD 750 which I used to pull a 4ft Landpride BH with. That worked great for about 4 years, then I traded it plus cash for an '84 4x4 JD 750. Kept it for about 6 years then sold it and bought the 2001 4x4 JD 790 w/FEL that I have now. I think this might just be the last green machine I ever buy!!
This was my 2nd tractor, an '84 4x4 JD 750 (Don't have a digital pic of the '81)
This is my present ride, the 2001 4x4 JD 790 w/FEL
I wanted a Ford 1920 way back, but the boss said no. So the first was a Honda 4WD 4 wheeler with a 5 foot plow! After some weekend window jobs I got a Craftsman 21 horse "tractor" with a mow deck and snowblower. (still got that one)
Now it's the 7610 Kubota. I got the OK for that after we had to move some bigger rocks by hand. Come to think of it, I should have moved those rocks a long time back!
