I have two irish wolfhounds...........the question for me is not where they sit but how much room they will take up........haha........I have a minivan where I have removed the middle and last row of seats so it's just an open space........the female stands in the middle behind the two front seats so she can look out the front window to see where we're going.....the male lays down against the rear hatch until we stop at a light or stop sign.....and then he stands up and looks out the rear window........the look on the peoples faces in the car behind is priceless as he fills up the window.

Use to have a suv but it wasn't as tall inside and when the iw's would stand up their backs would press against the ceiling turning the dome light on and off........after replacing several dead batteries from the dome light being left on I decided a change in dogs or a change in vehicles was necessary......the dogs won out.....haha.......Jack

Not many people can relate to a owner buying a rig for the size of the dog. I have a E 350 passenger van with all the unused seats removed. It has full AC and heat front and rear. The young IW's are crated for road trips ( close to home they are not) and the older IW's are not crated unless needed.

The old guy (the dog) passed last winter at just over 12.5 years. He was my between the seats dog, looking out the window making sure I was watching the road. Another one is in that place but it not the same.

I think the best compliment I can give to my lost pups is to get another.

Our Boxer, Bella, likes to get in the front passenger seat at first, but soon migrates to the rear seat (F-150 Crew Cab) to nap...she's not much of a rider, but does want to be with us.
Our old Pit Bull/Rottie mix, Jule (now gone, I'm afraid) was a front seat dog all the way.

don't know if he would stick his head out the window or not? Only time we open a window it's the drivers to show our security badges or to order at Tim Hortons.

Yeah, I'm a smarty pants. Actually I lost my dog to cancer too. She only road to the vet and understandably didn't like those rides.

In the crate, always. Much safer that way.
