In a previous post we discussed using a device called a beaver-blade on a string-trimmer for cutting brush. The beaverblade uses an actual chainsaw chain on a disk. Someone else used a disk with chainsaw like teeth cut into the metal.

This is what I am looking for, the type with the teeth being part of the metal, not a separate chain. Does anyone know the name of these blades, or Know of a source where I can find one?

Thank you for the help.

I bought the circle saw type blade from the Stihl dealer where I got the string trimmer. Later I bought a Beaver Blade from Country Home Products where I got the DR mower/trimmer.

Your best bet would be the dealer that you bought it from. They could fit it with the right size blade. If you got it at a box store, the first question should be, "can it run a blade?" Smaller trimmers are just that, trimmers. Even larger trimmers that are not commericial cant handle ALL blades.

If you got it at a box store, try hitting up Yahoo with the make and model of your trimmer. See if they make the type of blade that you want.

I have both, and either type will work pretty well for small brush and trees up to 1-2" diameter.

Bought mine at my Stihl dealer, but there are smaller size trimmers that are not recommended for saw blades.

What trimmer do you have?

duke,

I've got one and don't use it too much. I don't like how it grabs and it takes some work to get though larger brush. They bounce off sometimes....haven't used mine in a couple of years.

I do like the blades that are made of steel and have about 5 sharp "wedges" on them. They cut through anything within reason and are much better at cutting brush. They're made out of the same material (steel) but there's only a few big cutting edges, not 40 or more. They are far superior at cutting brush IMO. The box stores should have them and various independent dealers.

Beaver Blade. Round disc with a chainsaw chain attached.

Country home products sells them.

Never mind. I reread your post and you don't want this type.
