So I've researched and still haven't found the answer I'm looking for. I was quoted a LA805 loader with a L2236 bucket (72" QA). The bucket is considered "light material". The other bucket I'm considering is the L2235A which is the Square back bucket at only $40-$50 more. However I can't find any comparison on these two buckets or photos to see the difference. I also see the roundback bucket which I'm not considering. Can anybody shed some light on this? Thanks,

The standard square-back bucket has been amply rugged enough for just about any reasonable use we've ever had. The standard 6 ft. Kubota bucket weighs more than 300 lbs... you'd have to be constantly prying loose boulders or something equally destructive to need something heavier... really not the type of work tractors like this were designed for... just my opinion. Can't tell you about the "light material" bucket, but unless you're only working with mulch or something, the standard bucket is a pretty good all-around choice.

I agree, opt for the heavier bucket

I would recommend the HD round-back bucket;the light materials
bucket(lot more volume) are used mostly for snow removal up north.

I was under the impression that the " light material" was considered the standard bucket.... What is the difference between the light and the square? Which one is superior?

Normally the light materials bucket option lets you get a wider bucket on a loader. But since the bucket has higher volume than the standard bucket, they rate it to carry less dense material. Idea is it would be for moving larger quantities of lighter material.

Don't think that's correct. The "Build My Kubota" app on the Kubota website lists 4 different bucket options for the Grand L's: 1) Light Material, 2( Standard Square Back, 3( Heavy Duty Round Back, and 4( 4 in 1. I've been using the standard square bucket for 14 years of serious use (ex: digging piles of 10-12" rip-rap, carrying logs up to 2,000lbs using pin-on forks, moving Lord knows how much material, etc.), with no warps, cracks or bends of any kind. Seriously, unless you expect to do something really extreme, the standard bucket is plenty rugged. Here's a pic of the standard bucket on mine.

Here are LA805 bucket specs from the Kubota Canada website, where both square and round back buckets are called "standard":

Standard bucket
Width 72 in. (1830 mm)
Type Quick attach
Depth Round 72'' 18.0 in. (458 mm) Square 72'' 547mm (21.5 in)
Overall height Round 72'' 23.9 in. (608 mm) Square 72'' 570mm (22.4 in)
Length Round 72'' 24 in. (610 mm) Square 72'' 630mm (24.8 in)
Standard
Capacity - struck 10.9 cu. ft. (0.31 mウ)
Capacity - heaped 13.1 cu. ft. (0.37 mウ)
Standard bucket
Weight Round 72'': 397 lbs. (180 kg) Square 331 lbs. (150 kg)

Can't swear to it but some checking seems to suggest the Kubota "Light Material" bucket is a snow bucket. Here's a link with a photo of one:

Any decent dealer should have all the details about this.

Hope this is helpful.

I got the heavy duty round back bucket for mine and I have to say that I wish I had looked at the capacity before ordering. It is hefty, especially with the add on cutting blade, but it is a pretty small bucket.

Thank you for this.. Just the info I needed. I'm going with the square which seems to be the standard. Looks the same that was on my 524 loader.

Go with the 4n1 you will never have anything but once you have one. I can figure how to post photos from my phone but my 4n1 gets used a lot, and I do have a grapple also.

Depending on the 4-in-1, it may be too heavy to be highly effective on a CUT.

I just picked up a Bobcat brand 4-in-1 for my CTL...it weighs nearly 1000lbs. That's nothing to my CTL which has a tipping load of 5500lbs, But that bucket wouldn't be very effective on my tractor, which has a max lift rating of 2500lbs.

I went for a 4-in-1 for my 4105's 300CX FEL and couldn't be happier, especially for the odd time that the clamping/grappling/scraping feature was required. The remotes for the 4-in-1 function can also be easily un-bolted and fed back to the rear to act as a quick service point for, as an example, a hay rake.
Plus, the front remotes are there for a future grapple if you want one.

The 4-in-1 would be an overkill for my applications. I believe I'm going with the standard bucket which has always met my needs.

I've reinforced my round top HD bucket and it is now solid. Weld on teeth, side plates, bottom scraper, and a top pipe welded a of 1/2: X 1" bar.
Now it is tough at near 600 lbs. Mine is 1/2 Yard capacity.

we use L2235 of most everything. The build quality is more than adequate for most everyone.

I am not a proponent of the HD round back unless you specifically need it. You can almost buy two of the L2235's.

How about the L39 or L45 buckets, are they heavy or light material.
