I ended up going with the Dune Racer back in 2013, started off stock as 12v (my daughter was four), 2015 jumped to 18volts and now (2017) screaming at 24volts with new wiring harness and massive Traxxas Titan motors! Well,, we are at about 6-8 outings,,
the battery outlasts the kids,, I think the ride is a little rough,,
they will get used to it.

Right now, they use it like a car,,
go to the sandbox, and play
go to the tree house, and climb
go to MeMe, and nag for food,,,

As they get more used to it,, I believe there will be more joy riding.

when my little one was small enough he had a fleet lol, fastest was a 24V esc rubber tire peg perego magica (70's vw bug) with modified ryobi drill motors and custom milled gear boxes and all ball bearing spindals in the gearboxes

Power wheels dune racer is a good choice. My 7 year old likes this. Assembly is a bit time-consuming, but very easy. Goes pretty fast in high gear and has good traction and power

My daughter got one for free: "only needs a battery". I got a "compatible" battery, and charger cord, and the grandkids LOVE it. They even switch off driving duties without arguing (mostly). After a year, it's still working well, as long as they remember to park it inside and charge it up... These Dune Racers are tough.:thumbsup:

I've seen some You Tube videos of people converting these to accept their favorite tool battery. Apparently they can survive the switch from 12v to 20v and not burn up while going faster and using batteries you have in the garage.

Dang....the fancy toys these kids have now-a-days. I started with a stripped down 58 Chrysler imperial with the hemi. Dad removed the hood, top, sheet metal, and doors for a woods car. He put wood blocks on the peddles so I could reach them. Our St. Bernard loved riding in it too.

Pretty impressive, LOOKING,, I have never owned such a thing,,, minute and a half video,,,

I think it depends on your styles. But i think the best power wheels Jeep is suitable for all

Well - I was going to buy a powered "something" for my two greatgrand daughters. 10 & 12 I certainly found out what it WILL NOT be. Any type of ATV. The entire entourage - son,granddaughter, SIL, greatgrand daughters - came out to visit this summer. They ALL wanted to drive my Yamaha ATV.

First my son - he is 55 and a reasonable person. After MUCH explanation - he took off and almost upended the ATV. That is when I decided - I would drive, they- each in turn - would ride along as passengers.

Thank goodness - I've got 80 acres.

After all this was completed they wanted to drive my Kubota M6040. Ha, ha, ha, ha..................

I think you are doing the right thing driving them yourself.

A friend had her life radically altered by an ATV accident (flip) by hitting a swale at low speed, but in fact too fast for conditions. Spinal and brain damage. End of her career, end of her hobbies, and the loss of almost all of her friends, as she couldn't remember us.

Like high powered motorcycles, I don't think ATVs ought to be driven by anyone without significant experience in similar devices. When I worked at a hospital the high powered "Ninja" motorcycles were widely referred to as organ donors. Both remind me of the title of an old book, "Unsafe at Any Speed", which was perhaps unfair, but the car in question had an abrupt understeer to oversteer transition that made it not simple to drive...
