which tractor????

Andrew, I don't know if this will help you but there is a dealer in Blackburn who had a good selection including 2 of the b2150 that you mentioned, perhaps you should try giving him a call. His number is 01282 453900, he was very helpful even though in the end we did not buy from him. He has a B2150 with weather cab and turf tyres, and has done 474hrs and he is asking £7800 for it. But like I say he has many so it may be worth a try. Hope this helps.

Congratulations Richard. You are now a full fledged member of the big toys for big boys club. Two quick tips. Don't let your wife know it's fun, or she may limit the attachments. And Invest in a tiltmeter. On those hills, it's a must. Enjoy.

Keep the greasy side down.

That's probably about the most stable tractor you could get for your slopes. Congratulations and have fun.

Thanks Richard, I will give him a call if I don't hear from my local dealer soon. I must admit the weather cab sounds attractive, the weather up here gets a bit wet. Good luck with your tractor, look forward to hearing how you get on with it.

Richard,

Glad to hear you found a tractor you are happy with. I have not used a BX model, but the people on the forum with them sure do like them. Keep us up to date on your projects as you get going.

Wrong Tractor??????

Had a call from another dealer today he asked me if I had any joy finding a tractor, I told him I had found one and told him that it was a Kubota BX2200 and he said "oh, so you've settled for a ride-on lawn mower have you". What do you think to this statement have I made a mistake or is he just being strange. He was trying to sell me a 16hp Kubota instead ???? the exact one. It will be arriving thursday so write asap and I can take it from there.

Thanks

Richard

Re: Wrong Tractor??????

Aah, TresCrows will love it, Richard./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif That should get him going. Admittedly the BX tractors (called sub-compacts) are not a lot bigger than some of the biggest riding mowers, but which of the mowers has a category I 3-point hitch, rear and mid-PTO, 4 wheel drive, power steering, ROPS, front end loader with the capacity of a BX, etc.?/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Yep, it's a small tractor, and if you need a bigger one, that's fine, but the BX is a tractor (pretty nice one, too); not just a mower.

Sounds like "sour grapes" on the part of a salesman.

Re: Wrong Tractor??????

I thought that maybe the case Bird. I was actually suposed to get it delivered today so that has added to the disappointment of it all I gues. So I waws getting a few second thoughts.

Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated.

Re: Wrong Tractor??????

If it turns out to be too small you won't lose much trading up. The BX2200 should be fine, especially once you get the property into the shape that you can mow with a 5-foot finish mower (multiple blades that mows pretty). And it is a real tractor, albeit small.

Re: Wrong Tractor??????

RICHARD: from all that u say the 2200 should do u fine. think the salesman that tried to dis-hearten you should be flogged. i have a 18 hp garden tractor(goes along with my b2400 ) that cannot even attempt what u can do with bx. sounds like he was a little ticked off. TOUGH DOO DOO! good luck with your new TRACTOR.

Richard

I 'phoned the dealer in Blackburn but the Kubotas had gone, I will keep his number for future reference though. Which dealer did you buy from? I thought that I could maybe give them a call sometime.

Re: Wrong Tractor??????

Thanks Bird, /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I am probably quite a bit different from what you may imagine /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif . I think some of you guys simply do not understand me. I relish verbal combat of course sometimes but it is obvious that in this case the salesman, who was selling washing machines last week, and used cars next week was just trying to make Richard feel badly /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif about his purchase. Richard, you should thank him and be sure to tell him you will not keep him in mind for any additional purchases.
Hope you enjoy your tractor, either one would have been an excellent choice for your described needs.
J,
looking forward to the day I grow up and can have a big tractor like all the big boys /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

Richard,

Glad to hear you got a BX - I'm sure you'll be happy with it. My first experience of Kubotas was actually using their mini-excavators at a small quarry up in the Pennines - it's a long story. They rightly have the reputation of being near bullet-proof.

The one thing you might consider before the long dark and misty northern winter sets in is some work lights that you can mount on your ROPS. Trying to get the chores done on the tractor when it's dark until 9am and dark again at 3:30pm can be a bugger.

All the best,

Patrick

I forgot to add - that salesman is full of the proverbial - he's just playing games with you. I think you'll find plenty of testimonials to the 'can-do' of the BX2200 on this board. If you have an issue feel free to ask.

As they say in your neck of the woods - "there's nowt queer as folk"!!

Thank you all again, going back to play with my new TOY!!! LOL

Richard, Richard, Richard, so glad to hear how happy you are with your new tractor, but if my wife hears that it is a TOY, I am in big trouble./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif You must remember, here on the forum we are not playing with our toys, we are working with our tractors to make life better for our wives/husbands./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Congratulations!!! Keep us up to date with your projects and questions.

Re: Wrong Tractor??????

Thanks, Richard. It is a sad day indeed when something like that happens. I'm afraid we've been too complacent too long.

Re: Wrong Tractor??????

As FDR said many years ago, "this is a day that will live in infamy". There is now a thread going in "Off topic" (world trade center), as this is about as far as off topic as I can think of.

Our lives have changed forever.
