I'm looking for a wicked grapple to do mostly moving large rocks and digging up roots as well as moving brush obviously. I'm pretty sure I don't want to give up the load carrying versatility of the long bottom to gain a bit better root digging ability. I'm also thinking of getting a stump grinder to take care of a few stumps and the grapple is going to be used to dig up any remaining roots.

you mentioned the dual lid is better at grabbing loose firewood and I can definitely see myself doing that in the future. My main concern is about visibility because one of the uses I plan to use the grapple for is to pull out saplings but for that I need to see where I am pinching and from the few pics I have seen on your site that are from the drivers view. seems to me like the dual lid may have better visibility for that purpose.

I read a thread on here that someone built a sapling puller adapter plate to bolt on to the grappler but for the life of me I can't remember who did it and I can't seem to find the thread.

I think I have it narrowed down to a 54 or 60 inch long bottom dual lid. my front tires outside width is 63" but I was hoping to keep the grapple smaller for more maneuverability in the woods. tractor is a kubota 4740 cab with la854 loader

Does my reasoning make sense? What is the lead time on one of these?

Yes, your reasoning sounds spot on and I do like narrow for maneuverability. Our build window is currently projected at 10-12 weeks due to extremely high demand.
Feel free to call me if you want to get one ordered.

always nice to see some pics of some nice welds.

I am actually leaning towards the single lid now partially because of the price but mostly because I want to build a brush grabber like koua built and I think it would be annoying to have to wait until the other lid closed before grabbing the sapling. Plus it could lift 50 Lbs more.

Awesome, man! It'll be there before you know it...well, if you forget. We'll make it worth the wait, man.

Here is some early AM Wickedness from the EA factory today.
