We live on a dirt road with no neighbors. Yet. New school went up 6 miles west. As a result pavement and neighborhoods are coming our way. Bummer.

But, the changes worked out for me today. On the way to my sons school (the new one) I drove through a new neighborhood. So much oak laying by the road.

I called the developer and he said I am welcome to anything on the ground! This find will save me so much time!!

Nice job! It looks like some of that would have fit nicely on your sawmill.
Thanks. I was hesitant to call thinking, "there's no way they would give that away." Glad I was wrong. That's just one of 4 stacks.

Dude, I have chords and chords of white oak that I haven't been able to give away.

Nobody want to do the work to get it.

Heck my step son said he wanted some for his wood stove in his shop.

I told him to come on over. I got a ton down that doesn't even need to be split. He could even load up my trailer if he wanted.

I finally got sick of looking at it down and collected it all with the palet forks and dumped it in a burn pile.

That's crazy. I can't get enough of it. We've owned the land we are on for bout 3.5 years and lived on it the last 1.5. I've got wood stacked that will be available fall of 2026. Cutting for 2027 and '28. I'd love to be stocked 3 to 4 years out. I hope the oak drys in 3 summers. Oklahoma is hot, dry amd windy. We will see.

Bummer you can't get rid of it. A tragedy to me 😉

People just don't want to do the work.

Heck, I can bring it right out to the vehicle with the tractor. Cut it to the lengh they want, etc..... I'm just not gonna split it and deliver it to them as well

I've probably burned off 10 chord of wood to clear out for the building site so far.

I'm currently thinning the rest of the property. Hence all the small stuff that doesn't need to be split.

Crazy and tragic. I'd take every bit of it.

I've got plenty at my place. But I have to haul it out of woods by hand. This stuff sitting by the road and limbed up was just too easy to pass up.

What are you building?
