Who makes the best grease gun?

I have one and it works great . I have to use it on idler arm on a couple of my G.M. trucks . I screwed it on to a pipe , put a zerk on the other and snap it on to my grease gun hose .

That's exactly what I'm talking about using it on, thanks. I like to lube every oil change, but that one cussed fitting is absolutely aggravating...the other day I was standing out in the yard, hands covered in grease ranting and raving at the truck when I realized "Duh, somebody has to make a 90 deg coupler or something!" I'm embarrassed that it took me that long to figure out the simple/obvious solution.

Has anyone seen the new Milwaukee cordless grease gun? It's right about the same price as the Lincoln.

I have one and its great works every single time. Has a purge feature for after the cartridge change that actually works. Ive used without success a number of others including the air and battery harbor freight brand, as well as two different sears/craftsman (one was a re-badged IR), and two different manual versions. NONE of those came even close to working as well as the Milwaukee IMO. However there was a bit of initial sticker shock $225 but you get what you pay for. Ive sent 5 cartridges through it in a few months and the battery is still fully charged. Another note is the fact that im not restricted by the length of an air hose which is also great. Lastly the whip hose fits everywhere ive encountered unlike the hard hoses with "adjustable" ends.

You will not regret buying it. I bought one 7 or so years ago and it still works but is tired. I was going through 40 tubes of grease a month with it for a few years. I ended up having to buy 2 new batteries, a new charger, 2 wip hoses, countless couplers and I replaced the motor but it turned out not to be the problem (I found a loose screw in the drive mechanisim that was the trouble) It needs a new canister to hold the cartrige because the threads are worn out and the rod does not stay out any more. Great gun but expensive. I ended up buying the lincoln air operated gun this time and so far I am very impressed with it.

I have to admit that I don't grease as often as I should. I have two manual guns and I've gotten good at loading them but find trying to squeeze the handle while holding the end on the zerk can be difficult. If the zerk is easy to get at so I can use two hands then it's easy. Air is out of the question since I really don't want to drive my dozer up to the garage every time it needs greasing. So it's either the Lincoln or the Milwaukee.

yes 40 tubes or 4 ten packs of grease. I was greasing a lot of the equipment every day on the dairy farm. The equipment gets a lot of use. the cat wheel loader I run is 12 years old and has over 30,000 hours on the clock and most of the pins are still nice and tight.

40 tubes a month is good. On the crew I work with now between the five of us we use a minimum of one tube a day, Two for the feller buncher daily, just that many joints on the thing... Thats 15 tubes a work week, 60 a month. Roughly 52-53 lbs. of grease in a month:D

Cheap maintenance, pays off BIG in the long run.

Anybody have a preference between 3-jaw and 4-jaw couplers? I like the 4-jaw ones because they seem to hold better on zerks that may be partially clogged. They also seem to be a bit more forgiving on angle so that you don't have to have them perfectly straight onto the zerk.

I grease my TLB daily. It has grease oozing out of every joint and I consider that a badge of pride in maintenance. It sure works smooth and the joints don't squawk. I have the Lincoln 14.4 vdc unit and a manual greasgun. I like to use the manual grease gun on the fittings on my front axle and pivots because I can feel the grease going in with every pump. When I use the battery powered gun, it moves a lot of grease very quickly. I get two greasings of just the backhoe and the loader before needing a fresh tube of grease.

An equipment operator I know told me that he can go through 10 tubes of grease on his 14.4 volt Lincoln with one battery charge. That's greasing a lot of equipment and going through two or three tubes per day. It takes me over a month to use 10 tubes and the batteries just won't hold their charge that long. Even so, I'd bet I get at least 5 tubes to a charge.

Wow, was I off....:ashamed: minimum 6 tubes a day between all five operators= 30 tubes a week

120 tubes a month @14 0z per tube or roughly 105 lbs grease a month
