"Kubota not the most advanced"

By what standard? Kubota is the most noted engine manufacturer for diesel engines under 100 HP. They have the cleanest, quietest, fuel efficient and long running engines. They even meet California's strictest CARB requirements. The engines don't leak and have great HP to torque ratios.

The Kubota hydrostatic system is bullet proof. There isn't a more reliable or modern system in the market.

Four wheel drive, hydraulics, electrical systems, solid and reliable hydraulicly engaged PTOs, and fit and finish are world-class. Kubota is the acknowledged leader in bringing new technology to the market; sub-CUTs, factory cabs, servo-controled hydrostatics, traction sensing four wheel drive, skidsteer quick attach systems, and on and on. Warranty programs and resale put Kubota right up at the top.

I don't know how much more "advanced" you can get. Quite frankly, I would rather see the advances go inside the tractor rather than loading the tractor up with "marketing gimmics" that are more flash than substance.

My Kubota dealer has been in business for almost 60 years. They have sold many different lines of equipment. Their technicians say they have never worked on tractors that are as well-built and reliable as the Kubotas.

Sorry I went on so long on this. It just gets me when someone will consider the new JD 20 series more advanced that the Kubota tractors. It didn't take much imagination to put the same engine (an existing engine they had laying around) in three different tractors, use the 10 series balance of tractor, adjust the HP to provide variety, and charge substancially more for the juiced up ones.

I think the most advanced in terms in overall "change the worlds thinking" is probably ICF. For one who has framed homes for over 30 years, I see insulated concrete forms as a considerable improvemnt over premier stick frame construction. In particular, the ease of use has to go to Nudura.

If this thread was delegated to strictly tractors, I would have to give the heads up to JD, they certainly seem to always play catchup, but they always exceed my expectations. Kudos to them but my Kubota shall remain with me a longtime and as far as reliability goes, they are second to none. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

What exactly is ment by more advanced ? More electronics and computers to go bad ? Or the tractor won't go because something electronic needs to be calibrated ? Not sure that is more advanced, or if it is I like the older simpler stuff better that does not require a PDA or computer to troubleshoot/repair.

Just my opinion though.

It could be a mixture of the two. I tend to agree with you that I want stuff a little less problematic and if I were to pick something on an automobile that generally tends to have issues it's electrical stuff. On the other hand, if it were not for this stuff, you and I would not be having this discussion. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The first real compacts,4x4 smallish machines with position control instead of draft control, were indeed manufactured by Kubota in the late 1960s.Their target market were those rice farmers in Japan, most of them with small plots and no need for a larger tractor,4x4 and rice tires were a must for them,Kubota has appeared to be always ahead of the curb on CUT, although Shibaura and the other Japanese manufacturers were never that far behind, its a different story altogether with AG and utility tractors.

I have owned a B7100, JD 4100, TC 29D and B2910. Most problems were with the TC, all the rest pretty much trouble free. Have to say the 2910 is like owning a small dozer/lawn mower combo /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. I would buy another Kubota in a minute, the drive components bolted to a steel frame suit me better than castings bolted together (who knows the quality). I doubt they have the durability of my 1962 Allis-Chalmers.

I'm certainly a Kubota "newbie". I only became interested in Kubota a few years ago when I bought a Grasshopper mower that had a Kubota diesel in it. I have purchased a brand new tractor about every 3 years for 20 years now. I always shopped John Deere, Ford / New Holland, Kioti, Belarus, and Mihandra. Each time I went back to Deere. The New Holland would have been my 2nd choice, but a long way down. My local Deere dealer is also a New Holland dealer. He admitted that they sell 3 or 4 JD tractors to every New Holland. The New Holland tractors simply are not as heavily built. Heck, the same HP tractor weighs 800 to 1000 pounds less in the New Holland compared to the JD, and looking at the frame, axles etc. it showed.
After I wondered over to that strange place that sold the other orange tractors, I have to admit, I was quite impressed. Pretty much every "weakness" I perceived in the JD tractors I'd owned seemed to be addressed by Kubota; including the need for a cab with A/C in a mid sized tractor. I know with JD and Kubota you pay some for the name, but in general, you get what you pay for. The Kioti salesman told me that their tractors were identical to the Kubota tractors and that is why I never bothered looking at the Kubota orange. Gees, what a liar that salesman was. There is no comparison in quality, and accordingly, resale between the orange tractors.
I'm totally happy with my Kubota equipment. It's not cheap, but I don't buy "cheap". My only question now; what do with all of my green implements? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
