It would be nice to have a Deere Rep explain a reasonable fix on the MX 6 Rotary Cutter output shaft breaking prematurely. Ken Sweet

Me too. I own one and have questioned if I should try to sell it and buy something else. Just saw the first one locally for sale on CraigsList due to a broken output shaft. Makes me nervous now that it will be just a matter of time on mine.

I get a call a week on a alternative fix for the MX 6. I don't have a cheap fix. I don't think anyone does? This MX 6 could be a public relations concern for Deere, if they don't step in and do a recall. Ken Sweet

OR why so many JD rear axle housings made of cast aluminum break, or why the gears in the front axles of the 790's break so often, or why.....

Deere is huge. Their big revenue/profits come more from the larger equipment they produce and sell as opposed to the smaller compacts and subcompacts. Go down to your Deere dealer and start to show interest in a new 6000 series and up tractor and you'll see what I mean. Seems to be a factor around here anyway, but I must say the Deere dealerships are better than they were years ago, i.e., more interest and less arrogance.

Exactly. That's pretty much the way it is around here. They're more interested in selling equipment in the $100K and up range. If we weren't friends with the nearby JD dealership manager I sometimes wonder what kind of service my wife's operation would get. In the last 3 years she's bought a new round baler and a grain drill from them, pretty small potatoes in a dealers eyes. That's right at $30K in cash business, no laughing matter to her.

There are JD dealers that only sell mowers and smaller tractors.

There's none of those left in our area that I know of. The nearest one about 25 miles away was shutdown overnight by JD. Thy came one day told him they be there the next day to pick up his inventory and that was that. No one could understand it because he was doing quite well selling only L&G stuff. There may more to the story than that but that's all that was ever told. They been in business for a long time.

There is a dealer about 55 minutes north of my place that sells 5000 series and below JD's and is doing pretty good. As matter fact that is where I just made my most recent tractor purchase.
