Why can't I find a part number for an oil filter???

Hi,

Messicks has a nice video comparison on Kubota and Wix filters and should convince most orange tractor buyers and owners to buy OEM. By the looks of the Kubota filter my money says Fleetguard/Cummins as the manufacturer. Anyone know for certain?

Brian
I would think Kubota would use Japanese made filters to save money.. Kubota IS a Japanese Company..

Don't want to buy Kubota OEM filters? Fine, take the number and cross with virtually filter manufacturer, like the Wix link provided above (although there doesn't appear to be a Wix equivalent). Hence, you might be forced to buy OEM. Oh well, life sucks, then you die.

Then there are some of us who live 16 miles from a freaking dealer and 6 miles from a auto parts store where we can buy a good quailty oil filter.

Some of us do not have the deep pockets we can waste the price of 2 gallons of gasoline going to a dealer for a freaking oil filter.

If you buy on Amazon you pay 8.35 for a good wix filter and 12.29 for a Kubota branded filter. I my self trust a know who made the wix filter over the the lord only knows who made the Kubota filter. Also saved nearly $4.00 too.

I am finding that owners of Compact tractors like to spend money. Maybe to show off. But they sure want the rest of us to do the same.

Here's how far I am from getting oil, hydraulic and fuel filters for my Kubota L4330, RTV and ZTR:

- 12 miles to the nearest auto parts store (O'Reilly's)

- 22 miles to the nearest Kubota dealer (Yearwood)

- 10 feet from Messick's (walk from my porch to the UPS truck and back)

If I get it from Messick's, I don't have to spend any $$ for gas; heck, I don't even have to put any shoes on. (My wife won't let me go out without any pants though :( ).

WOW, many parts are WAY overpriced, it's good that you don't need an Alternator or Starter, though.. WOW$$..

I know we all like doing things our way but my guess is most tractor owners either stop by or call dealer or parts store and tell them they need oil (motor), hyd, air and fuel filters (what ever filter or filters they need) and the brand and model...Also many filters have the filter number on them.
This is what I do.....

I call the parts counter, give my name , tractor and tell them what I need. Then tell them to call me when it is ready to pick up.

Sometimes it is an hour, sometimes 3 days depending on their stock and order schedules.

I have no idea what the part numbers are.

Like to spend my money on quality oil filters that Kubota has specified for their equipment, not some trash that WIX pulls off their shelf and stamps "I Think It Might Fit" like they have done on both the motorcycle oil filter and inline 50 micron screen gasoline lawn mower filter they have for my BX2230 that is made with water blocking paper.

Messicks has shown the WiX oil filter to be substandard and a glance of the picture of fuel filter is a joke.

We're talking about filters and such, not major parts like alternators or starters.

But since you brought it up, I did have to replace my alternator on my L4330 a year or so ago. I found the one on the Messick's site equivalent in price to the reman'd so-called "lifetime" warranty alternators at O-Advance-Zones around here. I wouldn't buy one of those if you paid me.
