Set the fuel to the desired btu's and the follow with the stack O2 sensor to adjust inlet air.

I was thinking of the coal feed into the pulverizers and the fuel blowers .

Okay, but where is that BTU sensor? When the boss said shovel harder that's what we did until the gauge turned to red.

The control computers read the RTD's or thermocouples in the stack outlets, saturated steam , super heated steam, high pressure turbine , low pressure turbine , the re-heaters, condensate feed heaters, low pressure turbine discharge temp, condensate water temp and condensor cooling water temp. Stack O2 of course .
Usually send 4-20ma to operate the air dampers, VFD's for the blower and pumps along with the control valves .

That's a lot of temperature readings. With us the engineer just looked at the pressure gauge and knew the slope of the track coming up and just yelled. Coming on to a hill we was shovelling hard but the downhill side was just loafin around.

I am surprised the 5.0 has a better payload rating than the ecoboost, yet the ecoboost has the higher towing reasons.
