Good point. Also, it's sort of expensive buying large quantities of paint in spray bombs. Not to mention the tired "trigger finger" after a couple dozen cans.

Napa sells a 'add your own paint' type spray bomb, with a refillable cartridge.. however.. you are still stuck with cleaning the dern thing... Might as well just use a touch up gun... course' the spray bomb needs no air to blow the? 3 or 4 oz of paint it holds.. at least till is resevoir runs empty then needs to be recharged.. etc..

Nope, don't get the tired trigger finger anymore. Bought a couple of handles that snap on to the top of the spray cans a couple of years ago. Snaps on the top of the can and gives you a big handle to hold onto with a very large trigger. Best 99 cents each I ever spent.

I've got one of those SOMEWHERE in the shop. In one year since we moved, I've managed to loose about 10,000 different items in the shop. One of them was my mind ;)

That too....... I see a BUNCH of ways I "went wrong". Not least of which was deciding my old tractors needed to look brand new. First that was a "bright idea". Then it became a hobby. Soon the hobby became a passion. The passion developed into an obsession. After spending $57 to get a steering wheel center cap, it's now bordering on mental illness.

Tractoritis... It's a chronic illness.. never goes away.. Sometimes it becomes 'acute' and there will be a flare up of symptoms.. like buying more rusty junk.. etc.

Good luck.

I know of no treatment, except to just let it run it's course..

There are plenty of support groups out there.. and.. well.. this is one of the top 2 in my opinion.

And here we go again!.. I walked in the house for a break. And to let some more primer dry. Hood and all associated sheet metal is in 2nd prime coat. Block sand once more in an hour, then whip out the paint gun. Once EVERYTHING is ready, then I mix paint. The activator takes 30 minutes, then the red fog rolls. Just as I thought, the fresh air system I borrowed make my glasses fog. UUuuuuughhhhhh! Life is tough. With some luck, everything will be cleaned up and I'll hit the shower about 9PM.

Fenders get it on monday night.

And I've got 3 more lined up after this one......so far.

I'm not impressed.....My painting skills that is. I've got one little spot that didn't turn out just right. That's it though. Final try. I had to learn something I already knew. Ever done that? When primer won't dry, sanding won't speed things up. Yep, I know. :(

I'll probably wait until saturday to put the hood back on the tractor. Decals after that. (easier for me to do that on the tractor. Your results may vary)

I'll post a few pictures tomorrow or sat that show the condition the fuel tank of my 35 year old tractor. Thick galvanized metal. Never had a sign of paint on it. It had the most indestructable protective coating know to man. A protective layer of dirt! 35 years of spilling a little diesel fuel around the cap area, turned to armor plating when mixed with dust and dirt. That tank is now spotless. It looks like brand new.

OK, pictures of tonights entertainment.

#1, "Nose cone". Tomorrow afternoon, I'll mask it off and spray the inside. Not that bad now, just 35 year old never cleaned red paint. Sand lightly and spray.

#2, drivers view down the hood.

#3, Radiator/fuel cap access door/center of hood.

Next stop, fenders ;)

Looks good enough for govt' work.

All of us are too hard on our own painting skills. I know it's hard to see detail in a pic.. but seriously.. looks decent.. I'd have no qlualms about bolting up what I see.
