Here is my position; I'm 51 years old and in a few short years it will all be over and when I'm at death's door I don't think that the last thing on my mind will be how much I overpaid for my John Deere.

I will be 51 next month and I sure hope I am not as close to deaths door as you seem to think you are! :)

Please close this thread before it deteriorates into arguments about the best brand of laxatives!

Turbo, you didn't pay too much for your John Deere. You did your research and you bought the best tractor for, otherwise you would not have bought it. Therefore you did not pay too much.

But I do need to know more about them laxatives, I am too 50 going on 51 and the laxative information would be interesting :D :D I agree clsoe the thread:cool:

Egon, I have a pair of jump boots I bought at the Base Exchange at Chanute Field almost as old as the guy worrying about laxitives. I guess many folks would prefer to be the LAST PERSON to make their statement and be congratulated on their insight and then have the topic dropped before anyone took issue with their perfect pronouncement.

Never happen! The beat goes on and on ad infinitum ad nauseum. There are always a few late joiners who don't read the first few thousand lines post on the topic before trying to jump in with both feet to only end up with the boot in mouth syndrome.

Thread cops are only a nuisance but THREAD DICTATORS are a true PITA.

Pat ;)

Perhaps your advanced age has affected your short term memory :D If you had gone back and read all the posts before passing judgment, you will see that I am not a late joiner because my first comments were the 5th post in this thread. I don't know what I said that insulted you but in my opinion it hardly warranted your insults.

Saw the thread and just could not resist.......kind of like the don't touch button.

I think JD has done an outstanding marketing job over the years to where it is now ingrained in our social frabric that to own a JD is both a status issue as well as the belief that it the best american made product in this catergory. Unfortunately both aren't true (lots of foriegn parts)..........I know something about this......I own 3 Harley-Davidsons. They are not the best mechanically built bike as the technology is very outdated and they are way over priced for what you get. So for 25 years now I have bought and rode them, I would never ride anything but a harley. I think its the same thing as a JD tractor. So not knocking the product just stating what I see as fact.....in the end it our cash and we can buy what we want.

I couldn't agree with you more. It's only when others try to exert their opinions as if they were facts and claim that you paid too much (based on what?) for what you bought that an arguement ensues. I am not loyal to any single tractor manufacturer, I have checked out many brands. Honestly, some of the brands that "cost thousands less" should cost thousands less. In my opinion, some are simply outdated knock off junk. But, after forming that opinion I do not go to out and express my opinions here about those brands to simply try to flame those who bought those brands. There is no hiding that the original intent of this thread is to flame JD owners and imply that they overpaid for what they got. Again, says who?!

I can go to Harbor Freight and buy extremely inexpensive tools that I strongly consider of inferior quality; and have, or I can go with tools that have proven themselves over the test of time and torture to hold up and pay more for those brands. The fact of the matter is that it's my money and I am the one to chose how to spend it. I don't go out and create posts telling people that they have purchased cheap knock off junk and, if I happen to own a JD, Kubota, CNH etc. tractor, I wouldn't appreciate someone who has opted to buy the look alike but cheaper tractor to tell me that they paid $20k less for the same thing. After doing my own research and buying what I feel is best for me, their posts stating such just makes me feel that they are fools who are second guessing their decisions.

So, back to your point I quoted, yes, it is our own cash and we can do what we want with it. If I prefer a Honda or a Lexus over a Chery (if you don't know what a Chery is, you soon will ;)), so be it.
