If you read the post I quoted in my answer, you would see I was referring to the 4x20 Powertechs.
All you said was JD powertechs. I had no way of knowing if you were referring to all powertechs or only the ones in the 4x20 series.

Post 237 is the clue here. Also.. if you read his wording very carefully.. he says that you needed to read the quote that he had replied to...( not just his reply ) In the quote.. the other poster mentioned the 4x20 series, and then he made his 1 line answer under it. Not super clear.. but deffinately an implied topic... since it was mentioned int he quote from the other poster.

A freind of mine has a new Case IH MXM-120 and it was made in England.

Well at least it is made in a country friendly to the US and almost speaks the same language or at least close enough that you can talk to them if you need to call about some issue.

I used to think I could understand most foreign accented English pretty well but lately I find the Phillipinos and Indians I have been having to talk to on computer and network issues are nearly incomprehensible.

Made in England wouldn't be so bad in some respects.

John Deere does not make tractors in Dubuque, but they definitely have a plant in Dubuque; in fact they are Dubuque's largest employer.

Roger that, I'm glad they have a major employer in Dubuque. All those folks that used to make hams needed work.

There are a number of Deere plants making combines and lots of neat stuff, just not tractors which is what was of interest.

Oh my goodness Pat; you have nay heard about some of the English dialects in Merry old England. :D

When I was in England I found that if I paid attention and listened carefully I could "decode" most of what was said. Now that does not include Welsh or any minor regional dialects. Scotts speaking English were as much of a challenge as any. Most of the British Aerospace contacts and members of the British Royal Navy with whom I worked and met were very easily understood.

I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about all the different mx series. I believe the Case IH MXM's are the same as the NH TM's and the Case IH MXU maxxum's are the same as the TS-A NH's.

You are right.

CNH really needs to clean up their model designations for the Case line, there is way too much confusion with MX, MXM, JX, JXU, etc.

I am not sure about Case-IH but New Holland is changing their system in the US to match the new European setup. The TG will be the T8000, the TJ T9000 and so on. In Europe, the MX line is know called Magnum. So instead of the MX 305 it is know as the Magnum 310. CNH is bringing the number system over from the NH side of things to here so maybe they will change the Case-IH side also to like it use to be with the 7100, 7200 and 8900 series Magnums.

Patrick have you talked to someone from scotland. When I lived in Saudi Arabia one of the mechanics there was scottish. There were times when after asking him to say something over two or three times we would just hand him a paper and pencil. His accent was so pronounced none of us could understand him.

Dubuque doesn't make tractors but makes the JD skidsteers as well as the engines that go in many of the compact tractors. The 7000-9000 series tractors as well as combines are made in Waterloo, IA. The planters and other field equipment are also mostly all made in IA. In addition the balers and mower conditioners are made in Ottumwa, IA. The 6000 series tractor is made in Germany. The reason for this is that Deere is a major international company. Germany is where most of the 6000 series tractors are sold. The cheaper 5000 series tractor is made in Mexico because that is where most of those are sold. The other cheaper 5000 series tractor is made in India because that is where most of those are sold. The better 5000 series is made/assembled in the US.

Deere is pretty much the last American tractor company left. Yes I'll pay more not just for green paint but to support a great American company and for what I believe is a better product.
