Jeep Wrangler owner for many, many years. Current is a TJ Rubicon, lifted, 4.10 gears and 33" tires. So yes, there's a "plethora" of Jeeps around here.

A few pics of my son's '74 J10..... but, only the body/frame is original now. He put a Cummins and a 6 speed manual in it. Dana 60's front and rear. Plus a bunch more.

My other son has an '89 XJ, soon to have new custom built axles and 3 link suspension. They both off-road frequently.

I myself have owned 12 Jeeps, starting with a CJ-5 in 1979. We had a CJ-7, a couple of Wagoneers, a couple of YJs, a couple of TJs, a couple of XJs, and a couple of Wrangler Unlimiteds. My '97 XJ (Cherokee) had 410,000 when I sold it 13 years later. It is still going. I traded in my 2012 Unlimited 2 years ago and miss it everyday. I purchased it used with 60K on the meter for $24K. I got $22K for it on a trade (with over 200K miles on it along with hail damage) on a new Frontier crew cab.

I like the Frontier, nice ride, good power, but just not the same..... even the wifey agrees and wants another Jeep. We will be looking next year for a diesel Gladiator. We will probably have to order one because we only want certain options..... none of the fancy 'bling'.

So yes, there's a "plethora" of Jeeps around here.

That one's not so bad, but most likely you see a lot worse. That's why I hate ABS... I went through a washout doing about 30 because the computer wouldn't let the brakes do what they're supposed to do. It cost me several hundred dollars in front end work...

The Gladiator diesel is my dream “fun” truck. My thought was to wait another couple years and find a lightly used one. Problem is, they hold their value so well that they don’t come down much in price!!!

One of my coworkers leased a Jeep and the 3 year lease came up this year and she bought it to turn around to sell it...

Cost of ownership basically a wash because she had a low lease payment and made thousands selling it due to demand...

Had never been off-road and under 20k miles... not much driving the last two years...

Started with a used CJ7 back in 78 after driving the mountain roads/trails in the CA San Bernadino Nat'l forest in a full size Ford van. Wife didn't like looking over the edge in the wide van. So we bought the used CJ7. Spent many weekends in the CA mountains exploring and camping. Sold it to buy the first house, then wanted the new CJ*(?) Scrambler when it came out in 81. Added the full hard top and a back seat when the first kid came along. With the original top used to carry 8ft drywall up over the top on the headache bar(rollbar). One time coming back from Central CA weekend with no doors, it rained. Very interesting driving in the rain. Kind of like a convertible top down in the rain. When the second kid came along the wife wanted 4 doors to buckle kids in car seats. So we traded the Scambler for a 85 Cherokee with a Renault 4banger turbo diesel. That was a blast to drive especially when the turbo kicked in. Sold it after the timing chain/belt broke and with interference valve clearance trashed the engine. Pontiac dealer took in on trade for one of his employees that rebuilt it. And bought our first minivans. Jon

I have had more CJ7s than I can count..Have a really nice one now that gets maybe 500 miles a year. We have also had a few newer 4 door Sahara Wranglers that were my wife daily driver. They were leased and they held value remarkably well. At trade time we had 3-4K in equity every time. Decent fuel economy..18-19 mpg and the convince of 4WD for snow or the beach.. and a convertible roof...This is why they will always be desirable.

I am heavily considering trading mine on a Ram 3500 HO Cummins because of the resale value. Dealer is offering almost too much to resist!
Gotta love the Jeep & Ram truck lineup!

Jeeps made by Dodge. Not at all like the one that were by JEEP! Electronics are all screwed up ib both. Heat not working in either jeep, different years. To get to heater core the Entire dash has to be removed! We will never ever buy a jeep or dodge products again.

When I was 18 (in Y2K) I bought a '92 Cherokee. It had the 4.0 and could pull a lot more trailer than it could stop. It was the ultimate working and camping vehicle. I also loved the fact that it was incredibly rugged yet reasonably sized.

You might be the perfect lease candidate?

All the serial Jeep leasers are in very good shape at the end of their lease and no repair costs as full warranty should it be needed.

The first mod to any new or used Jeep is flushing out the overpriced dealer only garbage coolant and replacing with Prestone. That was the next mod for my JK had I of kept it.

It is hard to follow the logic unless we have your knowledge or you can explain a bit more in detail.

If you are removing good anti-freeze to add your favorite brand, that is costing you money not saving any. Second, for those who have a warranty, a different coolant will void it.
Jeep is VERY specific about their coolant. Unlike other manufacturers, they do not approve of any other brand or color, at least not for my '13 Rubicon.

We have had a few Jeeps & until recent kept them all in New Mexico.

However now we've the Gladiator Rubicon, a 2020. Actually bought it used w/ 3,200 miles & 3 mths old. It had everything the wife wanted.

This thing just replaces all of the others that were waiting for their call to duty out where they were most at home. We went out there 3 times a year regularly over the last 15 yrs.
It should be noted our demand has also changed. Being in the later 70s has its own demands too.

This new JTR is now parked next to the wife's AMG. They both answer a call.

This Jeep is not little nor small. It fits us & gets driven most of the time. It's a Jeep thing as far as the actual driving in the deep sand, pasture, off roading & launching a boat, etc.
It offers a ''feel fun to drive it'', anywhere we go.

Ford noticed the trend and are trying to take a bite out of Jeep's market share. Will they be able to? Who knows, the chip shortage is sure screwing up a lot of plans.
