Why the length of the top link pin is different?

   / Why the length of the top link pin is different? #21
Instead of one pin that stays with the top link, have a right-sized pin that stays with each implement.
x2. That's the voice of experience speaking. Side note; I've never once bought an implement that came with its own top pin. Some I've purchased didn't even come with lift pins. Same holds true for lift pins as does toplink pins: diameters are consistent within a Category, length will vary with need.

I have to agree with b@t. That extra width is for a quick hitch. My Befco grading scraper even says so. It didn't come with a top pin but I had one I bought from TSC. The bottom being wider isn't an issue but because of the way the GS works sometimes it pushes up on the back (when the rippers are down) and the top link slides to one side and then needs to be lengthened. When the rippers are up and the rear blade bites in it pulls requiring the top link to be adjusted again. I have made spacers out of pipe to keep this from happenening.

Pins are like TBN advice: It varies. . . :)

Hey jinman;
Did you get any rain ? Sure is hot and dry in the midwest.
I have one long pin I use for everything. Doesn't look good on the top link ( fussy ) but it does the job. When I deal on a specific attachment I am more concerned about the " out the door price " than four dollar pins they sell in any farm store. Just finished with a remodel of a stationary hitch pto rock rake into a hydraulic angle swival. Makes the machine much more useful. Most new ones have this feature but this must have been the " biscayne " of the series, and not the impala. By the way I had to turn my own main pin on the lathe to make the proper clearance.

No rain yet. . . only south and east of me. Sounds like your rock rake job made a really nice implement.:thumbsup:
