He did change the oil and put a new air filter in it.

Thanks. Yes, I spent $60 and a few hours of my time plus towed it 120 miles home. All this for something that was not my fault. All I did was drive it. I did not abuse it, ect. Plus when I got it it was on empty. I put $88 worth of gas in it and he got it back with about 3/4 of a tank.

The air filter (which if were mine I would change too) doesnt look that bad. You guys are looking at the very tip of the pleats, you really need to spread the pleats open and look between them, thats where 80% of the filter media is. I agree though if it were mine i'd throw a new one in too just because thats how i take care of my stuff.

I noticed too our air filters look like that in certain cars, I assume due to where the air is drawn in, some pull it in from the front of the car and the ones that pull it from the fender or soemthing like that seem to come out looking like that in our area for some reason.

Trust me, it was dirty all over. It was full of debris also.

Our '08 Tahoe just went in for an engine light and alarm. On Star towed it for free to repair facility.
Turns out theres a sump screen that gets clogged after 50K+ miles. Easy cheap fix and back on the road in an hour. I lke that kind of protection.

Its like talking to a wall. These bow tie boys don't get out much.

Chris

Why do ALL yout threads end up with an obligatory GM bash? I dont think you can help yourself. lol
I currently on both and I get out plenty. Not a "bow tie boy" or a "blue oval boy" either. I bet I get out a lot more than you. Just hauled hay through Indiana in fact.
Ford's got plenty of shortcomings.
Just sold the last of our 6L trucks. I just gave the buyer all my out of warranty repair receipts. Over $10,000 in 2 sets of injectors, turbos, head gaskets, head studs, and about 50 other things. One more 6.4L to get through.

It was the fact he believes GM is the only one with a oil life monitor. My last 4 vehicle's, all different makes have them. None GM thank god.

Yep. It simply a thread about what lack of maintenance will cost you no matter what brand.

Pay a little now or a lot later like the old Fram commercial said.

You forgot that he has to throw in personal attacks, he can't just respond to the statements while defending his Fords are wonderful position.
Too many of his posts include brand bashing but I guess with over 11 thousand posts the Mods don't have time to monitor them all.

If you dont like his posts and feel that they are over the line, stop bellyaching about it, hit the "Report Post" icon (

) in the bottom left corner of the post and bring it to the attention of the moderators.
With almost 1500 posts on TBN in the last 24 hours, the moderators cant read every post, so give them a hand rather than just bellyaching about it.

Or just block me. There are a few on here I have blocked so I don't have to read what they write.

Aaron,

If you read this sticky posted at the top of these forums, it doesn't seem like complaining to the moderators about a forum bully would be received with very much sympathy. I think his legendary posting numbers and supporter group get him a longer leash than the typical TBN member. I have less than 200 posts and have been insulted as a GM truck owner repeatedly.

Perhaps it's a cabin fever epidemic, but there's been a flurry of posts in threads that did not live up to the high standard of civility TBN is known for. These posts resulted in the threads being closed. If you cannot make your point without name calling, brand bashing and in a manner that respects your fellow TBNers, please rethink what you've written. Thank you.

1. Don't take comments made by someone on the Internet, who you don't know and have never met so seriously.
2. Seeing who reports posts in this forum to the Moderators is interesting. Major cases of the 'pot calling the kettle black".
3. You don't have to defend your favorite brand. In the long run, and the short run, it doesn't matter.
4. Report posts that violate the rules, don't play moderator.
5. TBN has always been about sharing experiences, good and bad. Just because someone else had a bad experience with your favorite brand, that's not an insult.
6. Use common sense. Political threads belong in The Front Porch. Most of the people who post a lot in this forum know the topics that are political.

If you can't say it nicely, don't say it.

Why? I was here when those were put in place and it was getting pretty nasty at that point MUCH less brand bashing now than there was then. Below are the stickies:
We ask that anyone posting in the Trailers & Transportation forums refrain from brand bashing with terms such as Durajunk, Powerchoke, etc... It is not acceptable in the tractor brand forums and, as such, is not acceptable here, either. Thank you.

If you feel that he is breaking the rules, report the specific posts.
If you feel that the reports are being ignored, PM Muhammad about it. When he isn't traveling or sick he responds to PMs fairly quickly.

Oh I think Muhammad does a great job, I just think some of those stickies really influence the less popular lower post number member from complaining about the anti-other-than-Ford bashing.

Making the generalization that "These bow tie boys don't get out much" IS bashing and breaks the rules as I understand them: "If you can't say it nicely, don't say it."
"Don't get out much" to me means, "you're stupid/ignorant/don't know anything".
It's not worth complaining about.
At this point it's just easier to give him special dispensation or ignore his posts, as he suggests: "Or just block me. There are a few on here I have blocked so I don't have to read what they write."

It's funny how we can talk tractors all day long and get along with each other but when it comes to trucks we can't get along.

And saying 'Fords are disposable" isn't brand bashing?
Fords are disposable!
Chevy's have Oil Life warning system. :)
Seems like the two comments balanced each other out :D
but it's not worth complaining about.
[sarcasm]Ah, its not worth complaining about to someone who can do sometime about it, just worth griping about it on here where nothing will be done about it?[/sarcasm]

I have to admit this thread has taken a bizarre turn. Been following it since the start with interest... saw Chris' response to the dispensable Ford comment and thought it was a throwaway, lighthearted response... a quick jab back at the original jabber, and done in good humor. Now 2 pages of what seem to me to be unsolicited and unwarranted harrasment, starting with the accusation he is being petulant to a helpful BIL. I don't get it. Maybe I'm too new to the forum and don't have enough history, or maybe I'm just too thick-skinned to be offended when someone pokes fun at my tractor color or truck badge, but Chris' contributions are ones (among a good number of other regulars) that I'll intentionally read as he strikes me as helpful. I just don't see anything worthy of reporting, though some of the recent additions to this thread seem to have no purpose other than picking on a poster. What am I missing?
