Is everybody getting this window popping up when you boot your computer about changing to win.10? I hear its more problems I'll stick with win.7.

Yes, M$ is being pushy about it. I have 7 and won't change. If I had 8 I would.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using TractorByNet

I've got Vista. Wish they would have included that one. I'd keep 7 if I had it to!

My shop laptop is 7. House is 8. Kinda hard to go back and forth. Don't really see much difference in productivity.

My computer service guy told me couple months ago to not download 10 until after January. Said they are still working bugs out of it at the expense of those using it. I won't load it until I have to. I only went to 7 on my laptop because I had XP and started having trouble with it.

I have 8 or maybe 8.1. I get the invitation to download 10.

I haven't researched it all. Any advantages?

I don't do much on the computer. Mostly I use my smart phone. My wife uses it more. We play solitaire, and use chrome to access the Internet, Gmail etc. I actually used to be a programmer and do IT work but I haven't tried to keep current. Hardly ever do spreadsheets or documents and no database or programming any more.

I think my house computer is 8.1. I have no idea what the differences are.

As to my smart phone (Galaxy 6 Active) I have no idea what it uses.

All the little stupid quirks that my laptop and house computer have, my smart phone doesn't. Works like a champ. What's up with that???

Had no choice but to go from 7 to 10. (coffee spill, LOL)
So far so good!

Sure didn't fix the double post issue huh....... Where's the admins on this issue????? Seems rampant among members.......

Glad you are getting along with 10. We'll all be forced to it or it's equivalent eventually.

I mostly use Linux but need Windows for some applications. I have been a user of Windows since 3.1 and long admired the Company. This release has bothered me because of the spyware. Google for "Windows 10 spyware" for some discussions. I will stay on Windows 7 to the extent possible, but they are putting out Windows 7 updates with some of that same spyware and disguising them so you can not tell what you are installing. Researching more knowledgeable peoples findings and declining the update only results in them issuing new ones. Decline all the information gathering options and it is said they still connect to ports on their server and send information. I have stopped installing updates, I may go back and just install the security ones but am at the point of not trusting them anymore. Might look into how a business version of Windows 7 is treated perhaps they don't do it there, I wouldn't think other Corporations would be too thrilled with them spooling data off their systems.

I took the bait. Went from 8.1 to 10 on my laptop. Touchpad driver was not compatible along with a few other things. New drivers were not available yet. Long story short it created lots of problems. Rollback to 8.1 did not work as advertised. I'm back to 8.1 again after a days worth of work getting there. I'll wait until they make me this time.

I let the update from 8.1 to 10 go forward on my tablet. It worked out fine and after playing with some settings to not eat up the battery, I now like it. Can easily put the tablet in airplane mode to save the battery when not in use. Otherwise it would often become dead from it calling the mothership.

I also upgraded an old XP loaded Thinkpad T60 with win 10, it runs on it very well. I had zero driver issues with both upgrades.

Had win 8 disliked it. Now have Win 10, dislike it even more. Vista was the best ever. :2cents:

Did you pay for the update from XP to 10? If so, how much? Nice to hear it's working.

I am running 7. I will stay with 7 for the life of this laptop. 10 has too much spyware and you have no choice on updates or protecting your data.
My Son bought a new laptop with 10 on it. He likes the touch screen but has been running Vista till now. He does nothing online other than a little research so doesn't care about the spyware.

MS says they will support 7 for several more years so I am happy with 7 and will stay with it.

Is this satire? I've been in the tech biz for close to 30 years and hated Vista. To each his own. 10 does takes some getting used to but at least you can change many things to your liking.

Not yet. The Thinkpad is my sons, having a .edu e-mail address gives you one free license. It does say educational on the bottom right but otherwise it works fine. I don't think I would pay for 10 yet. I really wish Linux would be better but with the quirks and the family disliking it, I can't use it here yet.

The new windows 8 has no start button on your desktop I could just imagine what windows 10 looks like if windows 8 was weird looking.
