Rake Will a ROOT RAKE do the job?

Hello experienced grubbers;

I am considering buying a root rake for my mini excavator. In addition to general raking and cleaning up, I want to clear some 1/2"-3" brush - mainly thorn brush and other small trees as well as remove stumps that were left over from some bush hogging.

Will a root rake be able to cleanly remove this brush and pull up their root system as well?

What about for removing the remaining 1/2"+ small stumps from past bush hogging?

I was also considering building a custom root rake that would include wedged teeth between the tines. This would give me more of a 'brush brute' grabbing feature yet also provide all other benefits of a root rake.

Has anyone used a root rake for the jobs I'm trying to do or customized one like I am thinking about?

Check the rental businesses in your area. I'd check with equipment dealers too. Often, they'll either rent or let you demo an attachment to see how it works out.

I live in an area with alot of buckthorn from small to three inches round trees.I bought a ripper tooth and a thumb for my BX24 tractor .I like it because it dosn't tear everything up. It pulls the roots out and leaves the ground loose and not dig up. A follow up to digging up Buckthorn .There are alot of seed ready to respout so in the following spring a year later. When the ground is wet and soft I pull alot of small little seeding up. Its a pain in the ###. I dont want to spray anything that will kill other plants
