Windows 10

According to the article I posted earlier after the free update of Windows 10 is done the updates will no longer be optional. So any new feature or service or data collecting they want to implement will no longer be at your discretion. I for one will not have anything to do with Windows 10 as it is now and what appears to be the direction they are going.

Windows 10 is bogus on all machines EXCEPT for those install in production.

I've never seen anyone happy with their resulting data crunching when they've upgraded from 7,8 or 8.1 to 10.

Even my Laptop 10 is a nightmare.

We've already spent $3K on one iMac.

We'll complete the change over with this PC next year and never look back at Microsoft but to thumb our nose.

Had enough replacing PCs every two years for various reasons.

Once you go Mac, you'll never go back.

Switching OS is not exactly plug and play to many/most of us.
Now that I am running W10, if I choose to switch to a different OS, just how
hard is that? If I remove W10 in the future, will it fully remove or will it leave
undesired software on my machine? with a dual mode/boot machine, is it possible for W10
to track in the background? If the software has spawned functionality that has been stored
outside of the Windows folder, perhaps sunk deep somewhere hard to find, have I just put a mole
of sorts in my pc?

Pretty sure someone will have an aftermarket full delete capability, and perhaps already does. But I don't trust
Microsoft to pack out whatever they packed in.

I did a dual boot Win 10 and Win 7. With the free upgrade system you could keep the key for both as valid. I will stick with 7 for now, although 10 with classic start menu program is not bad. When the 7 support ends I can boot up in 10.

Well, I like Win 7. Have used it at work for years.

A few years back I bought a laptop that came w Win 8. Hated it but was afraid to upgrade. Finally did a few weeks ago. No major probs. Went pretty much smoothly. Turned off all the upgrade/data mining that I could. No quite the same as 7 but much better than 8. The comp boots a lot quicker now too.

One unexpected outcome though... My fan runs much less and the computer runs much cooler. Didn't see that one coming!

found my first W10 upgrade unhappiness; my HP Officejet prints just fine, but now the scanner won't work, seems confused as to where to send the data. Says the problem is with the line or my pc; well it prints so not the line...

Maybe updating the driver will fix? Latest driver should be available at HP website.

Make sure that the Folder the scanner sends the files to have Read and WRITE permissions. Had the same issue with a scanner and that was the problem.
