woodmaxx flail mower?

/ woodmaxx flail mower? #181
I measured mine today, 57" offset from center of the top pin to the edge of the mower housing, and the blades cut about 1.5" in from outside of the end the end plate. I could likely get another 1"-1.5" offset out of my 3pt.

Hope this helps.

Very helpful, thanks. That means edge of cutters would go 20 1/2" beyond my tires. This may work.

I looked at some of the boom type cutters and their prices take your breath away.

Saw your other note on being able to hook to Cat 2, thanks. Any chance you could take a picture of your hitch? I may never use it on our 96 HP tractor but, would be nice option.

Betstco has 60-some inch ditch bank flails for about the same price as a Woodmaxx flail with side shift.

It may take me a day or two, but I'll do it first chance I get.

Just called Woodmaxx because my flail mower was suppose to be in yesterday. They told me it was delayed until next week, I had asked what day next week and they said they where not sure. Is this normal for this company? What I'm guessing is that they are to small to keep inventory on hand and just order from their Asian supplier as needed and if the supplier is delayed then you're SOL?

I assume that WoodMaxx does not work with dealers??

I wish they would offer an 84" or 88" version of their FM78H mower.

Presently their wider mowers jump up significantly in weight and HP requirement.

From my experience when ordering our 62H - Woodmaxx has mowers on order continuous, but manufacturing and shipping from China takes several months time between orders. The told me their different models are always on the list but how many and of which model is hard to plan for. Most are pre-sold as well. Keeping an expensive inventory is not good business it seems for most companies these days. Ours took about 10 weeks time from order date to delivery not bad either but we did order in early spring. Later in the year is longer perhaps. I like that ours has good weight and I expect it will hold up much longer than something light for its size ...Ours weighs 670lbs and 20 PTO HP operates it with ease in tall grass and brush...

That's why I canceled my order...went from mid-July to late August. I hope the shipment comes in soon (for your sake).

So Roy, have you purchased another brand meaning, you have a flail mower now or, are you waiting until next year? With everything being an import these days it is hard to wait but what choices do we have? I tied buying the Caroni mower but they too were out of stock saying it would be August.

I don't think they are too small, I think it is this:

I had some delays in getting my Woodmaxx - it appears that the website time is when they expect the freight container to reach them, and the actual shipping date to you is 1-3 weeks later because they go through and inspect and partially assemble each unit. It's not a fast process, especially in this "Amazon prime" age. However, most tractor needs can be planned ahead, and a good implement should last years. After getting my mower and using it I'm OK with the delay, even if I would have preferred to just get it delivered the day after I placed my order.

It's just basic that items which are a better value (or seen as such) are in higher demand and therefore can be harder to get. I could have bought a different brand of flail and received it much sooner, but for nearly double the cost and without much clear benefit to me.

When I ordered mine there was a delay of a couple weeks. Customs can sometimes cause delays like this. I found that they were honest with me when I called.

We all want what we order asap. Small volume large items from the other side of the p planet can take a bit longer.

Perhaps the sales of this (new) product was greater than they planned. Given the lag in shipping time, they may be struggling to calibrate forecasts. That may be aggravated by lack of capacity by their manufacturer. Hopefully it all catches up with itself.

I bought a Caroni from Agri-Supply. According to their website, they have 15 in stock for Mail (Online) orders.
Pretty happy with it (as you can read in my posts in this thread).

Or there could be a delay with a ship, or with customs, or with getting the container out of the port and to their location.

As someone who owns a business and orders from overs seas by both air and sea on almost a monthly basis these scenarios while do happen are pretty rare and are often an easy excuse for business to use. Anyway just an update, I called again and it's delayed another week even though they told me last week it would be in this week. So I'll give it until next week if it's no in I'm cancelling and going another route.

Hello blb078,

After all this I would just by a JD290/390 or a Vrisimo flail mower and never worry about anything again.

If I didn't find a nice Mott on CL for 1k, I would have bought the Vrisimo. It is such a solid machine and the people I talked to at the company were very honest.

Bump. I saw that Woodmaxx raised the prices on their Flail Mowers. About $500 on the model I have been contemplating. Tariffs??

/ woodmaxx flail mower? #199
Yes, tarrifs. Some other brands have already raised prices. I'm seeing it in machine tools as well. Thanks Trump.

Buying a flail is tough, it's all about timing for many. I say this after trying to buy the Caroni but none available in 60 inch for another season so not wanting to wait long I got the Woodmaxx with not much waiting plus got free shipping to the west coast, a huge thing out here as others charge about $700.00 to ship from the east. I felt lucky really as they had only one not accounted for in their current shipping order. So far, it has been great but still low hours so time will tell us. Had I bought JD or Kubota the price was about double thru local dealers and perhaps better made too but twice as good for twice the price I don't buy it. My woodmaxx is very heavy telling me it has lots of steel at 700 lbs and runs very smoothly with no vibration, none, so balance is good. Quality upgrades on their bearings plus Gates belts is good too so other than the automatic belt adjusters I can't think what will go bad sooner than JD or Kubota unless the cutters are poor quality but if so, I'll buy better ones when needed. Were I mowing commercially I might have bought JD/Kubota but for something I'll use maybe 50 hrs during the summer the Chinese stuff should be fine for me. If Woodmaxx has raised prices it's because of high sales and demand, every business in America does it when feeling they can survive price hikes. Too bad really, and I haven't had a raise in 10 years. There are a couple Verizmo mowers around here, both look really well made and are highly thought of, would not hesitate owning one. Isn't Kubota/Land Pride made by Verismo? think I read that someplace. Can't imagine tariffs raising prices 20-25% - but with huge imbalance in trade I think Trump had to so something least we all become unemployed besides, all we have had the past 50 years is sellout politicians stealing our money and Corp America getting fat off their off shore business partnerships for cheap labor. Have patience, the Euros and Asians will come around.
good Luck with your decision.
