Woodmizer lx25 sawmill

My LX25, which I ordered on March 23, is supposed to be built on August 12.
I ordered mine in late APR, and picked it up only a month later at the sawmill that is the distributor for NorCal. Originally, it was gonna be there in OCT, but I lucked out and got The Call. Someone canceled.

I drove the 150 miles to get it, and it was neatly crated on a narrow pallet that easily fit in the bed of my pickup.

I was looking for a starter band saw mill. I was talked into getting hydraulics on the mill, as my age I wouldn't enjou turning logs and loading logs manually. I am sure glad I got the hydraulics, as 3 years after purchase to built a retirement home, I am too busy sawing for $$$$ that pays all my bills while in retirement. Heck, retirement is the wrong word. I work more now than when I had a job.

I hear ya, Brandi.

At some price point, buying a sawmill would mean using it to cut for pay. I am too old to want a job, so I bought a hobbiest mill for smaller logs. I do sell some of the hardwood boards and slabs that I cut, but I cut at my leisure. Could not do it without the tractor.

BTW, a friend ordered a new WoodMizer LT35 Hydraulic, and it is due to be picked up in May, 2022. $23K.

I hear that so many times. Many who are retired say that they don't know how they ever got anything done while they were working. Meanwhile you see others who get done and do nothing but sit on the couch watching TV... and before long read their obituary in the newspaper.

I saw at my leisure too. It's just my leisure likes to work. Even a customer, who is a builder told me ...........We are not in a hurry for the lumber, cut it any time you are comfortable. I didn't buy it to saw for others, just my own house. Good things can get out of hand.

My Mom's Dad had cataracts and the Dr. Told him to slow down. He had a machine shop, a radio shop, and 2 acres of gardens. He just quit and sat all day and I watched him waste away. My Dad's Dad, lived on the farm, alone for the last 5 years, until he was 92. Farms keep you busy. Guess what Grandpa I take after?

When I placed my order on March 23 they told me there would be an 18 week wait... which put it around the first week of August.
Last month they told me it was scheduled to be built on Aug 12... so until today I hoped to have it by the end of the month.
This morning I asked when it was going to be shipped and they said that it's now scheduled to be built on Oct 21... a full 9 weeks beyond their original estimate.
That also means there's a good chance that I won't see it until there's snow on the ground.
I'm beginning to wonder just how much I want this thing, considering that I now need to buy lumber for the building I had planned on using it for. I also need to buy or rent someplace to store the sawmill, as a shed for it was one of the things I was planning on building. By the time that I get done paying for lumber, I will have spent the money earmarked for the mill.
The good news is that the vacation time that I've been saving, waiting for the mill to come in is now fair game for other things.

At this point I have no faith in Woodmizer's word, as they must have known before this morning that they wouldn't be able to build it last week.
I understand that everything is slow, yet they should be able to give some type of updated timetable so that I can plan accordingly.

I'm actually considering a HF version, as they do seem to have them in stock.

Sorry. That it terrible customer service. Honesty is cheap.

Either they intentionally deceived you or are totally incompetent. Either way it is not a good situation.
