Woods Stump Grinder

I paid $3500 for mine. Good value IMO.

I will post some pics when I get back home to my desktop computer (this weekend). My laptop doesnt do pics well.

This is a good grinder for occasional use. I'm not sure I would reccomend one for commerical use....and I would hate to operate mine all-day / every day. Too hard on the body (twisted around to see the operation - and an obscured view).

I recently came across a used Woods TSG50 for $1,850. The factory paint had not even been worn off the wheel or the teeth. So far this attachment is great, fast, and very efficient. Does not make much of a mess either. This was taken before I mounted the quick disconnect hoses in a bracket on the back.

In case you wonder what the yellow thing is on the 3 pt, it is a Delta Hook quick attachment device which is simply outstanding.

Heckava find DaBear! I sure tried to find a used grinder....not many around. the new price for the Woods is not too bad IMO. Maybe after 2000 or 3000 stumps....I will sell mine for what you paid. :laughing: OH....and those black "extensions" on my lift arms are PATS!

It took me a year of waiting and looking on the internet to find a used one. The way these Woods are built you would really have to try to mess it up so with a little care they last forever. I have also found OEM Sandvik teeth for $13 each, have ordered some spares to have, and compared them to the originals and they are exact. Which you would expect since the wheel is a Sandvik and the teeth I am talking about are Sandvik also. Morale of the story is don't pay the $25+ at the farm stores.

Agreed on the teeth. Reg had posted where to get 'em for a reasnable price on another thread. I bought 8 spares at about the price you posted too. The dealers get about double that amount. A little much....to me.

IMO....these teeth are going to last a long time...and they are pretty robust. After 75 stumps they still look new and cut like it too. Still....I dont have any rocks....yet. :thumbsup:

Yep....about as much fun as a guy can have with your pants on. :laughing:

I am really enjoying the tractor and equipment I replaced with last year. So far it's working just like I hoped. That cream-puff JD tractor is five years old...and was a great find....with only 200 hours. I had to wait to operate this stuff when I hurt my back in mid summer....now after a little lower back surgury....I'm good to go.:thumbsup:

I hope me AND the tractor get some hours this summer.

Minor update on mine;
It lost a tooth, although the property owner found it, or maybe I wouldn't have noticed (-:
I'm wondering just how often they need to be torqued down.

Anyway, to anyone thinking of taking on outside work with one of these...
Spec out what you consider to be a "stump" - e.g. how high ?
Waist high is a TRUNK dabnabbit, so is knee high.
Quote separately for chainsaw trimming - and DO take a chainsaw with you (-:.

Spec how far out you will go for roots that are above grade - some species are especially bad for this.
OK, so it may be 12 inches diameter 6 inches above grade, but how far do those surface roots fan out ? and how deep will you go for them ?

BTW, I haven't seen any tooth wear or chipping yet - and I have scratched up a stone wall (-:
The rubber flap holds stuff back, this isn't a rock hurler.
I have found quite a few of those, but the speed seems low enough to not chuck stuff very far.
