I'm torn between ..... it's opening weekend of rifle hunting for deer where my weekend place is located in the woods.
Might be healthier for YOU to do your clearing when you don't have the likelihood of hot lead flying around. Unless, that is, you have one of the newest Kubota models with the bulletproof cabs. ; '>
I use the word hunting, but I consider it harvesting since the common method here is to use feeders. ...... I consider hunting to be going out and trying to take game that is following it's natural pattern.
Yeah...like hunting wild pigs with a spear. Now there's some fun!! This is an actual practice in Hawaii. But, I think they have some dude with a rifle as backup. Take it way back and hunting IS harvesting. Food at the fire for the tribe and all that.
I've got no beef with hunting, or rather I've got beef ;' > I've always looked at hunting as harvesting and a long time back I came to the conclusion that going to the grocery was much more cost efficient than than buying a tag, taking time off work if needed, travel expenses, ammo, loss of seat time unless I could hunt from my tractor, time required to process, etc. etc.
If it's food you are after, the feeding stations make sense. If it's a real manly hunting adventure ya' crave, then pack in, pack it out, use a knife or spear instead of a gun.
And then, there's BSE creeping into wild game populations to worry about.
