Sadly, I don't even think a "torture" deterrant would change the "martyr" status many of them seek. If it is known that they were tortured as well as killed...would that not make them even more "heroic" to their fellow citizens? It seems to me that swift and deliberate justice is the only way for the US to avenge the innocents' blood while still maintaining the higher moral road.

I agree, Stan. Typically these hijacked planes are taken to X country and USUALLY the hostages are released after negotiations. We don't know at this time how much the passengers knew about the hijackers' plans, but they could have elected to just "wait it out". From our vantage point we know they were going to die anyway and they save untold numbers of lives with their actions.

Kevin, I certainly don't have all the answers about how their minds work. I just know they (assuming they are Arabs) just keep coming back to terrorize us over and over. It appears that the only suggestion to supress the attacks is more intelligence agents. I have sympathy for Americans who live/work in the high profile areas which are targets of these maniacs.

I agree with swift punishment to whoever is behind these cowardly actions. I also agree with the torture method for their wrongs. I also agree dieing for what they did. The hell with it go with Hoss's method. Everyone must die who is connected or excellent quote harboring(?Spelling?) the quilty.

No, torture would not help. Many cultures in the world have ideals so different than ours, different views of life, death getting there, and beyond.

the best example I know of is Viet Nam. There was a culture, which would send little toddlers and children up to GI's, with grenades taped to thier backs. I cna not imagine doing that to my son; I just can't fathom the slightest perception of that idea. Yet, in many countries it is a way to thier religions heaven or equivalent there of.

This is a hard one to deal with, no matter which way you look at it.

I think it was the 101st Airborne that had the motto "Kill Them All and Let God Sort it Out"...I think that's a good plan. Perhaps make a parking lot out of Afganistan for all others to witness...
