Worms in water bucket

Has anyone noticed how if you leave a bucket of water outside (or a wheelbarrow, etc...) invariably it ends up with one or more earthworms in it? I can understand worms showing up in puddles, but how the heck do they get in water buckets? :confused:

I haven't noticed earthworms - but am always amazed at the mosquito larve that will show up in what appears to be a teaspoon of stagnant rainwater.

Nope, they're earthworms. You could pat 'en down with a paper towel and use them as fishing bait. :laughing:

I think it might be time to change your medication.


I mean who in their right mind would 'pat down a worm' if they were just going to throw it back in the water as bait?

Water is a vital part of an earthworm"s life cycle.If it does not remain moist, it will roll up in a tight ball when it becomes dehydrated. This is to prevent further water evaporating from its' skin or when conditions become too dry. :)

My Father did not have the chance to receive much of a formal education, but he possessed a great deal of "Common Sense". I remember quite vividly when he told me some facts in regards to earthworms and honeybees. Life, as we know it, could never exist without the aid of earthworms and honeybees. I just thought that I would include this in reverence to my Father. Thanks for reading and listening. :)

Some meds have different effects on different people. Its his worm he can pat it down if he wants!!!

I have seen worms in buckets, honestly... until now I never wondered how they got in there. I am going to the cabinet to see if I have anything in the line of meds to take ... see the ripple affect you have started.
