Would a zero turn be faster than a B2601?

Yes a ZT with the same size 60" deck will mow your lawn a little faster. Also get stuck much easier. Also rotten on rough or steep ground. Mowing yours in 1.5 hrs is quite good really. Unlikely worth a big investment to improve on it.

That is what i am thinking after all a Z400 is $6000 plus.

I think i save some time by not backing up at all so i am constantly going forward mowing grass.

I have a few trees and i can't go under them the rops catches even when down. I think a zero turn would have the same issue.

I went from 3 hours for a 3 acre lawn with a 48" rider to 1 hour with the 60" zero turn and my trimmer work went from an hour to 15 minutes. BUT, I went from mowing once a week to mowing twice a week, since it looks so good and it's no longer a major pita. The zero turn is not really work, seat time is fun.

1 hour 20 minutes with your current setup for 3 acres isn't bad.
I doubt you will save more than 15 minutes with a 60" zero turn.

A friend has a long retaining wall that's about 10-12' deep. Somehow, he managed to run off it with his riding mower and didn't get badly hurt. A ZTR can turn a lot quicker and isn't something I would recommend to him or anyone where a little nudge of the controls can end up in a disaster.

Would also say that turf tires on a ZTR can be problematic for sliding on a hill. So might want to spec other tires if hills are involved and buying a new machine.

But....if the terrain is essentially an old, rough field that's now become a yard free of many obstacles, then the B2601 may just be perfectly fine for tackling that job.

A lot of this really depends on the terrain.

Why not add a towable gang mower. An 8' one would probably cut down the time. My uncle used one years ago on his 5 acres. Should be a lot less than buying a $6000 mower.

Zero turn ROPS usually fold down about 45*. Helps TREEmendously under trees.

I know a lot of TBN’ers like their 4WD CUTs but when you mount a mower on any of them, it diminishes their ability to be used for digging or going into the woods.

Instead of buying a new CUT with a MMM or rear finish mower, buy a slightly used CUT (maybe even one without a DPF?) and put the savings towards a tough zero turn. Not much difference in cost.
Besides, more fun & useful to own those 2 pieces of equipment, than one with a mower hanging off it. ;)

Yep!
Went under a low hanging branch a few years ago...WOW!! Almost flipped the mower over assbackwards!!

A ZTR will mow a lot faster than a tractor. You’ll probably want to throw away the turf tires and mount something more aggressive though.
