Overall width is not the important factor in whether or not brush falls out the sides. Probably top arm width is an important factor but the biggest factor would seem to be how you pick up the load. If you go into a huge pile and take a bite, some will almost always dribble out the sides. Same as if you drive into a big stand of blackberries or briar. You will snag some stuff that is connected to material outside the grapple and when you backup or lift you will have trailing material that is not properly secured. If you don't want to drop anything it is best to make an intermediate pile narrower or about the same width as the grapple and then pick it up a second time. I usually do that anyways as I like to pack as much as I can before driving to a dump spot and find I can pack about two or three bite loads into one compacted load by using the intermediate pile technique.
