Good point. My OTHER other hobby is ham radio, and building towers has given me a crash course in structural dynamics, wind loading, strength of materials, and guying. What's really fun for me is software simulation of all this stuff. Antenna radiation modelling, structural, propagation, etc. etc. Now I'd like to find some hydraulics modelling software to see what I can learn from that!

N8, I'm glad Mad didn't let you slide with that software excuse. I mean if you had said you were a COBAL or LISP coder we might have been a little more understanding but not much.
My question is: Do you want the Long valve to be mounted to the loader or the tractor frame?

This is just an observation. Most members on here always use bulk head fitting. Then they have to pull or push the sleeve back or forth to connect their attachment hoses. Looks like they would use the type of female connector that has snap ring grooves on the sleeve. If they did, then they would be able to just push on the attachment hose to hook it up and pull on the hose to disconnect it. It maybe one of those different areas of the county things. Around here the type that I am speaking of are about the only kind used.

Ha! I'm dating myself but my first programming class was COBOL, on punched cards. I did noodle with LISP but the recursion got to me. Now it's web stuff, but that was always the joke in my house with my brother and father being mechanical engineers.

My valve is mounted on the tractor frame as the directions say. I was just sharing with RFB who mounted his on the loader itself.

I believe these would be bulk-head fittings. But one is male and the other is female. You have to push one and pull the other. The advantage is you always get the same orientation. So in this case, once I learn which way to push the rocker switch to open/close it will always be the same!

What I bought was actually two kits - the Long E/H valve as you indicated, and a 'quick attach kit'. This kit comes with a pair of long hoses with quick-disconnect connectors to go into those on the E/H unit. It also comes with a bracket with another pair of Quick-disconnects that mounts right onto the FEL. The bracket is drilled so that it fits right onto the same holes as the bolts holding the protective plate that covers the hard-hydraulic lines that go across to the left side of the FEL. The end result is a slick install with QD's pointing forward, and hoses going back to the Long valve also with QD's that could be removed if the whole FEL is.

Wish I had known about that 2nd kit. I spent a lot of time making my own bracket and finding fittings, adapters, etc for a bulkhead. I did use those two screws holding on the hard line cover. Picture attached.

I passed on the WR Long QC kit. Too much money for me. So I did my own. Much cheaper and simpler.

We did basically the same thing to our NH.

Hi guys. I have been searching the net and came across this old thread. I have a 2005 Kubota L5030 HSTC with a LA 853 loader. I want to put a power angle blade in the loader. I called my local dealer to inquire about a third function valve for my set up. The dealer told me I can't get a third function valve for the 853 loader. They said I could for the 854 loader but not the 853.
I find that hard to accept so I am looking for some help from the experts, you fellows.
What can I do to install a third function valve onto my LA 853 loader? I need to somehow explain this to the dealer as well. I am going to call another dealer this week. Perhaps even a local hydraulic shop.
Any help would be appreciated.

Well alright then. I live in New Brunswick Canada. I am a Millwright/ Industrial mechanic. I have a tractor that I like to play with and I snow blow a few driveways. I would like to install a 7" Horst power angle plow. My profile is KOLBRNR or coal burner. I am not really that familiar with tractor repairs or hydraulic options available so I thought I would post here and ask a question.
I have been a member here for a while now but I mostly just read what everyone has to say.
