OK, I think I've got it.

I have the head in my car and am ready to start putting the pieces back together.

It will probably take me a couple of evening's to finish her up.

I will keep you posted on my progress and the out come.

A BIG heartfelt Thank You to all. You've all been a great source for information.

Sincerely,
Dave

I have another question and this may sound stupid.....but all I know is that my tractor is called a....1500. Is that considered a YM155. It's a 2 wheel drive, 2 cyl, 17hp.

Dave,
To the best of my knowledge, the YM155 ( US ) and the YM1300 ( gray ) are the same.

The 3 digit (made for US market) tell you the engine horsepower. So a 1500 has 15 PTO hp, which is approximately 18 or 19 engine horsepower. A 155 has 15 engine hp, but probably more like 12 PTO hp.
Based on what is stated here I would say that the 1500 should be the same as the YM195. (19.5 Hp). Looking at the shop manual almost all the specs on the 195 and 240 are identical. I will measure the diameter on the cylinder head studs on my 240 today and post it for you. If yours is the same the torque value will be the same.

Marnus,

The YM195 = YM1700. I don't believe the 1500 has a US equivilent.

OK Folks,

I put the engine back together and it runs great. Started right up, running at an engine temp of 185 and all looks good.

I worked the tractor for approx 30 min. When I stopped and checked the oil it was a little milky (that is the way it looked before from water in the oil). I haven't had a chance to change the oil yet, but am hoping that it is just from the water jacket and the oil pump. I didn't see any loss of water from the coolant recovery system so I still have high hopes that I solved the problem.

Just wanted to keep you all posted.
Thanks again.
