I was able to clear up the bind that I posted in another post. Cowboy357 said that he had a similar problem with his tiller (Iseki, also chain-driven), and that the chain was just rusted up. I freed it by rocking the tine shaft back and forth until I could rotate it the whole way through several times.
The problem is, that I was never able to get the whole chain case apart, it was acting as if it was bolted together in the middle somewhere. I could spread part of the case apart, put it was under stress, and would snap back together, as soon as I pulled my pry bar out. Problem is, I have now boogered up the gasket, and it leaks, so I need to get the chain case apart so I can put a new gasket (yeh, good luck finding one) or RTV on it.
Anyone here have one of these apart?
Another question, is how do I service the bearing at the opposite end of the tine shaft?
Thanks,
Jay
